Hard to say concrete as I do not know anyone close to Braden to give concrete information. Rumors have always been State, LSU, A&M, or back to Stanford though. Rumors were that it was a long shot and then Sunday it seemed I read something that said LSU wasn't out of the conversation.
So to answer your question, I don't think anyone has any concrete info on his decision or thought process. All seems pretty tight lipped.
Just a gut feel but it seems like State or Stanford is the higher likely scenarios.

I think the fact that we took Mac means we either passed on Montgomery or didn't feel like we had a good shot to get him. Listening to Jay over the past season, he seems very keen on building a team and understanding what personality's mesh with his style. I don't think its a coincidence that Burns, Hill and possibly Montgomery have landed else where. Those players seemed like they wanted guaranteed spots. Something tells me Jay said if you come to LSU you have to earn your position. All speculation on my part.

You're right, I didn't explain myself well. If Montgomery wanted to be here, we would have taken him. I believe our staff didn't think we had a great shot at landing him. Hence why we got Mac.

I don't think Mac has anything to do with Montgomery. I think Mac was the tiger emoji the week of the draft we were all wondering who it was. They were just waiting for the draft and teams to feel him out and when he decided not to go MLB is when they went public with it. That tiger emoji by Jay was before Montgomery even entered the portal, so I don't think taking Mac has any influence on going after Montgomery.

You act as if it’s already over by saying “we would have taken him.” Not sure where you are getting this information that we aren’t continuing to try for one of the best players in the entire portal.

I had these feelings as well. Im not sure why so many here can’t fathom that scenario. It may be wrong but it makes logical sense

We will pursue Montgomery until he says "I'm going elsewhere". You don't not pursue that kind of talent out of an assumption that he wouldn't come. Not the way this staff recruits. We can't fathom that scenario because it's not how Jay operates. He's aggressive and he's a great recruiter. He'll move on when Montgomery says no but I don't believe he would move on without knowing.

Of course. I agree but what you just said doesn’t contradict the idea that it’s possible that the staff took Bingham because they felt less confident in Montgomery. Again, one event could be completely unrelated to the other but, as of now, we are all just speculating on what every little detail means because there has been so few details or information that has emerged recently.
Taking Bingham could possibly be an indication that they feel less confident in Montgomery choosing us but they would most certainly still pursue him. That’s all I was trying to say.

it’s kind of obvious Bringham has been on board for over 2 weeks now..well before Montgomery entered the portal. So it’s not a stretch to say the two are unrelated

I thought the talks about Montgomery wanting to look elsewhere started far before he entered the portal but I could be wrong on that. Checking the post 10x a day has all these details bleeding together lol

This is it. Bingham was committed before LSU before Montgomery ever entered the portal. He was just waiting to announce until after the draft.

you never know until the player actually enters though and Bingham is an elite veteran college player that Jay would have wanted on this roster regardless

Very true. I like Bingham and I love Montgomery so I will be happy if I am wrong. Maybe part of me is bracing for the possibility of him going to MSST
Now, assuming we get Montgomery, I’d happily switch Bingham for a proven MIF guy right now but I trust Jay to make whatever scenario ends up happening work out in our favor
