Seriously, you don’t turn him down. Injuries happen. Having depth is good, guys want to develop and win championships and get drafted high.

Let's be honest no matter how "clogged" the outfield is. You take a guy like Montgomery without a doubt

I dont think anyone is debating that. I just doubt that the interest is mutual and probably why we took bingham

Of course. If Montgomery wants in he is coming.
I was trying to say that if you believe the reason many stated for not taking Hill then wouldn’t that apply to OF as well? If so, there’s no way we would have taken Bingham if there is a chance Montgomery was coming. That’s making a few assumptions about what Jay is looking for, though.
I’ve wanted Montgomery more than any other player in the portal but I just have a hard time believing he’s coming at this point. I will be very very very happy to be wrong on that one

There’s not reason they shouldn’t have pursued Bingham & Montgomery

Hill is an issue where they couldn’t promise him anything.

Montgomery is a different guy.

Let me be clear by saying that I don’t think Hill is on the same level as Montgomery and Montgomery isn’t getting turned down by anyone.

I’m just saying that it would be interesting to worry about Guidry’s feelings and not Klings when, based off of what we know, Kling is already a much better OF guy than Guidry at SS. To my knowledge, Jay hasn’t come out and said that’s why we didn’t take Hill so maybe that rumor is irrelevant.

It’s not a question of taking Montgomery over kling. It’s a question of taking Bingham over kling if the idea that we turned down Hill for Guidry is true. I was in favor of taking Hill btw

It’s not about hurting peoples feelings. It’s about promising a clear upgrade vs asking a guy who isn’t a clear upgrade to come in and compete at SS and potentially play 2B.

So you don’t think Hill was a clear upgrade over the current Guidry sample size? We can agree to disagree on that one

You could argue difference in kling and Bingham is smaller than the difference in Guidry and Hill.

I think they would want him to compete for the spot with Braswell and Guidry and whomever else emerges. No, I don’t think he is good enough to outright promise the SS job to.

I see what you are saying, and more so with the SS spot, but I think Hill would have just as good of a chance at getting an infield spot as Bingham would getting a spot at RF over Kling or Frey.

All of this could be moot because we don’t actually know why Hill didn’t end up here.

I think this is more of the FAN thinking than the players, I don't believe the players concern themselves with competition as much as some think. If so, LSU is NOT the place for them. You get as much talent as you can because injuries happen not only with pitchers TJ but look at Neal as a C he was lost half of this past year with some back injury. It happens to all players.

If CJJ can pull Montgomery Jay is the fricking GOAT! I've been on the Montgomery bandwagon for 6 weeks now (I sound like the kid's agent or publicist) but he is the proven bat you need for White now with Crews gone!

Of course they do, they all want to play. I think the players already in the program are more likely to face competition head-on vs a new player looking for a better situation.

In Luke Hill’s case, I don’t think a starting SS at a school like AZ St is looking to transfer to another school & compete for a job.

Bingham can DH when he's not playing OF. He hit something like 350 last year in the PAC 12 I'm sure it would be similar in the SEC. Hell, guys from Samford made the adjustment from their conference to the SEC and did actually great. Get the talent and it will work itself out.
Plus we have a great coach and staff that will make that happen.

I guess that's why Hill is going to Ole Miss.

D1 Baseball came out with a new podcast talking about collegiate USA pitching. When talking about Holman Rooney said “he is a transfer from Alabama going to LSU, from what we are being told.” Thought that was interesting to throw out there with how confidently he said it.

Saw that video several months ago. Would not surprise me to see Seo contribute on the mound next year.

You were right about everything except arm strength. The kid can play though!

Not sure why you don’t think he has a strong arm. He has shown it multiple times in games.
