What has been your timeframe for work? When did you sign, when did you dig, and where are you in the project.

I’m about to file a complaint against my pool builder as we’re on week 29 of what was supposed to be a 16 week build. Communication has been shite. Reputable company that’s been around forever, but damn.

I had the same issues. Was quoted around 8 weeks and it took closer to 34 weeks.

Poor communication and follow up. Product ended up great though.

Who are you filing a complaint with?

Is it a labor issue? Is it a materials issue? I know pipe, control panels and some of the more modern pumps have all had supply line issues the past couple of years.

Would be with Virginia DPOR (state dept for contractors, professionals etc etc).

I have three other pools going in my neighborhood that dug in april and all are done.

I have no clue what the hold up is. They don’t communicate, at all. They just roll up some days and start working. Again, well known local company.

We poured in early March. Our coping, tile and stone was delivered in May and just got installed 2 weeks ago. Still waiting on decking to be framed and poured along with plaster and equipment installed. Literally a day and a half of work to do probably.

Has been one of the most aggravating experiences ever.

You might get better responses on the home/garden board.

Sounds like these companies are losing their arse on labor budgets, or they run so many projects they never finish the 'time length' they gave you.

I filed a complaint with these and several ethical complaints included in Louisiana. The contractors board told me they had no jurisdiction since the company was licensed. I was shocked… basically they pay the little annual fee to the contractors board and are good. You have to pay to sue them for any recourse. What a dumb way to do it. So the board here is literally just to collect fees.

Welcome to getting a pool.

These asshats work on their schedule and no one else’s. I knew when WE added a pool that it would be DIFFERENT because I met with the contractor and we were on the same page.

It’s the same with every pool addition. They give you a schedule then they work as they “can” because of weather and scheduling and delays with other jobs.

Eventually it will get complete and you will forget about the aggravation once you have your pool.

Everyone who has had a pool installed had the same issues. Hell, it took 1 year for my neighbor’s contractor to finish his pool.

I’m glad we have our pool but all these contractors suck arse.

PS. They will not do at minimal one thing right and you will be left fixing it later.

Had a pool built recently. Tampa market.

Things here are a mess. A well known company got busy doing embezzlement and left a lot of people screwed. Completed pools with subcontractors taking liens on the property after not being paid.

Ours was done in 12 weeks. That’s from scraping the sod to swimming.

That’s not the norm here. Prices remain very high. Average prices in excess of $100K. Most of the builders are stating in the contract that estimated completion is 12-18 months.

My neighbor had one built and they went way over. They said every day it rained added like 3 days or something. I guess it depends on the size and type also.

I started a pool Renovation in March....OF 2021 and it still isn't done.

It took 5 months just to get Gunite shot and the deck wasn't laid until mid Dec. We had water go in in February but we still are not completed with the punch list.

The biggest issues now are the new gas spa furnace evidently has a defect and needs to be replaced and even bigger is the blue glass tile is now starting to fade after 6 month

This is also a very well known pool builder here.

Their communication has been horrendous through the entire process.

Super frustrating.

Yeah have never heard of or will understand paying a company $100k so far and they won’t even return a phone call. That to me is just absolutely mind blowing.

That’s what much of government exists to do.

HELO - how often did you call and bug them? Just wondering if absolutely hounding them every other day is a help or if it will just piss them off

This is crazy by itself.

I understand there is a waiting list and it may take time to start... but once you start... 16 weeks is what it is "supposed" to be?

The mexicans in Houston build an entire house in less than 16 weeks.
