Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins did not properly qualify for re-election and cannot be a candidate in the November election, a Caddo District Court judge ruled today – a decision expected to be appealed all the way to the state supreme court.

Perkins blamed the media for the incorrect information he submitted, saying TV news cameras distracted him when he was filling out his paperwork at the Caddo Clerk of Court’s office week before last.

With how things are in Shreveport, this is a good thing.

Makes sense. I often write down a relative’s address in place of my own when I’m distracted. This is exactly the kind of detail oriented dude I want running my city.

Lol I wonder what his BAC was when he was completing the forms

Fitting end to a shitty tenure as mayor. Can’t fricking stand him.

What is he trying to hide in faking his address? Since both properties are in Shreveport he wasn’t trying to skirt residency requirements. Must be running drugs out of his condo.

He can’t file paperwork correctly to run for mayor he doesn’t deserve to run an entire city. And also he sucks at being mayor.

I would walk away from my job rather than trying that lame arse excuse. That's just embarrasing.
I once applied for a federal gov job in the days of typewriters and white out. I mentioned all the forms and how hard the application process was and the guy interviewing me said "we can tell a lot about the candidate just by how well they complete the application process." I am going to say the same thing about Perkins in this case.

There’s definitely no media attention being the mayor of a mid sized metropolitan city so he should rest easy in his future endeavors

In his ruling, O’Callaghan said in listing a voting address inconsistent with his homestead exemption, Perkins submitted false information under oath that was mistaken or inaccurate, which therefore disqualified him according to state law.
That law states: “When an objection to candidacy is sustained on the ground that the defendant failed to qualify for the primary election in the manner prescribed by law, that the defendant failed to qualify for the primary election within the time prescribed by law, or that the defendant does not meet the qualifications for the office he seeks, the final judgment shall disqualify the defendant as a candidate in the primary election for the office for which he failed to qualify properly.”

Proof he's a democrat. Nothing is ever their fault, not even their own actions

So who are the other candidates? And are they any good candidates?

I read an earlier report where he blamed flashing lights from a TV in the staff area. Incompetent POS has screwed up since day one as mayor and it's never his fault...
