A baw from Houma opened a Cajun restaurant there, called Bayou Bob's. It had great food, the owner was present, personable, and high profile. The place stayed open for well over 20 years. It appears that Covid kilt it.

Denver is like a 7. Surrounding areas are like a 10

I moved there for exactly 1 year. It's a nice place, but there are some downsides.

It is expensive across the board. I came from Austin, which is also expensive, and I automatically paid 15-25% more for everything.

Not only is it expensive, the quality of everything is lower. From grocery items like a rack of ribs and an avocado, to restaurants. You leave spending more than you wanted to, and it's inferior to anything you're used to elsewhere.

The people kind of suck. Granted I moved there at the height of covid, but people aren't very friendly.

Is it the worst place in the world? Far from it. For outdoor recreation, it is a 10, but from an overall lifestyle city, it's more like a 6.

It's one of my higher ranked big cities in the US. Nice downtown with plenty of things to do. Its appeal has taken a hit recently as the homeless population has really grown. Denver has always had a homeless issue but it's gotten much worse in the past 10 years.

If I'm moving back to Colorado I'd prefer to be on the western slope in a smaller town.

I live within 40 minutes of Rocky Mountain National Park and Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in North America and 3 miles from Big Thomas Canyon that is the entire beautiful drive to the park.

Downtown Denver really wants to be like downtown Seattle or Portland. They are working hard to get there though.

Big Thompson canyon.
Also there is the highest paved road in the US up Mt. Evans. Both are far enough away from Denver to keep them somewhat less crowded.

A very good singer songwriter.

“Leaving on a Jet Plane” is underrated, imho.

Music Board tho?

Very similar to California. Beautiful place ruined by the progressive shitbags who live there.

prominence

Yeah a lot of folks seem to forget that the high prairie is already at a mile. There’s still nothing like Colorado mountains, and unless you’re one of the people who just can’t acclimate to the altitude, the Rocky Mountain High is awesome. But even the quiet mtn towns are getting full and expensive. For example I remember when Basalt, Aspen and El Jebel were affordable places to live for skiers and workers in/on the resorts and restaurants etc.

I chose Montana in 05. They’re trying to f it up too. Back to prominence, Mt Elbert is 14th in the US in prominence and it’s CO’s most prominent. But it’s competing with Alaska and Hawaii at sea level and west coast near same.

Here’s a fun fact: only one Colorado peak (Elbert) is more prominent than Mt Mitchell in NC.

It's gorgeous, and I loved living there. The problem is cost of housing, and that's not going away any time soon. A 400k house out here in Charlotte is probably 600k plus anywhere near the city.

Not as good a city as Colorado Springs or Castle Rock. They’ve let Denver go to shite.

This is true. My company is based in tech center and all my buddies live south or south west towards Colorado Springs

They never go to downtown Denver. Plenty to do in Colorado Springs and you still have quick access to all the skiing hotspots. Also just hit the loop for Red Rocks

Grew too fast for highway infrastructure and they're trying to catch up, which results in hellacious traffic during the week.
