That airport sucks arse and is in the middle of nowhere.

Denver is where all the New Orleans liberals are moving after getting robbed. The downtown is god awful but has some nice suburbs. It’s overhyped like everything else and the women are rough looking/granola. No thx

It wasn't supposed to be a negative. Just saying there are bigger mountains elsewhere. I love CO and the Rockies. You just glossed over that I guess.

I was talking about some of the others in this thread. Def not meant for you. The PNW is legit!

Fort Collins also highly conservative

Huh? I thought the whole city council was now overtly progressive?

This is not the case at all if you don't sequester yourself in the burbs.

My brother lived out there for a few years in the 80s. I lived there for a summer, sleeping on his couch. I did residential construction for my uncle that summer. Except for crazy traffic, t was great back then. The coolest thing was they had running/bike trails everywhere.

My brother isn't out there anymore, but I have cousins, I visit occasionally. The traffic is worse, but the suburban areas they live in are nice. My cousins still build houses out there. Wall Custom Homes

It’s great. Access to outdoor recreation winter and summer. Red Rocks and music scene is excellent. Broncos, Avs, Rockies, Rapids, Nuggets. Major airport for travel. We love it.

They might be a bit granola but the average woman here ages and looks significantly better than most places where overweight to obese is the norm. People don’t take care of themselves or age well most places. Denver is one of, if not the single most, fit city in the US. A lot of women here are active, fit, and sexy. That’s my type personally

Also, I hardly saw any kids when I was there, which was kind of weird for me. Maybe that’s just downtown though.

Crunchy granola types who move west to places like CO don't have a lot of kids. Just looked it up and the state is actually in the bottom 10 for fertility rates. The rest of that bottom group is in large part filled with liberal granola states.

Not to generalize, as Merills sells kids hiking boots and Subarus can come with a 3rd row. But this chohort largely seems to prioritize legal weed, double IPAs and outdoor recreation over starting families and raising kids. Hard to make it to Willow's soccer game at 9AM, Aurora's friend's birthday party at noon, and also find time to fit in rock climbing on your weekend.

Denver is a great city. LoDo(Lower Downtown) is awesome to walk around w/all of the restaurants, train museum, and Coors Field. And the vistas looking west towards the Rockies are gorgeous.

The downside: People drive like fricking brain dead morons. I-25 is a deathtrap.

one of the few places where the suburbs and surrounding cities are much better and more fun

I found this to be true. I enjoyed Aurora, Littleton, and Lakewood more than the city proper.

Beautiful city though.

I don't want to derail this thread too bad but there seems to be a lot of people familiar with Colorado so here goes.

What are the best 3rd tier cities (not Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and their suburbs)?

How would you rank:

Grand Junction
Pueblo
Salida
Durango
Any others I am missing

Top priorities would be:
Affordability
Bars/restaurants/breweries
Decent amount of younger people (25-45 age bracket)
Prefer to be able to hike within 20 minutes and backpack within 90 minutes. Don't care about skiing.

Work remote so the job market doesn't matter. Have lived around Mexicans most of my life so Pueblo doesn't scare me.

Grand Junction checks all those boxes and also has skiing.

You have a small university in town and all that goes with that. Lots of hiking. Colorado river runs through town. You also have some good wineries in the area.

Their cheese dip is yellow so I don't trust anyone there.
