I’d hope that a dumbass who gets in under that has their grades crater to where they get tossed from the program if they can’t cut it.
Do you know anyone that’s been tossed from a magnet program in BR for not keeping their grades up? I’ve been out of the school thing for a while - so maybe they do this now?

At one time Jackson, MS had a Ferrari dealership if you can believe that.
I used to know a loyal customer of that dealership. He has since passed. As has the the best time of Jackson.

Napalm and bomb all of North Baton Rouge and Tigerland.
Get rid of SWB and Murphy Paul. Align BRPD pay with nationwide averages for law enforcement.
Mandate stop and frisk as policy. Allow for BRPD to actively police and make arrests without fear of retribution from the new administration.

Put ACTIVE Law Enforcement officers INSIDE the schools, and hold both parents and students accountable for behavior.
The rough schools already have sheriff deputies at the school. I've had to pull kids off the deputies during fights. These kids are not interested in getting an education. They have told me that jobs/careers are for losers.
This is Judge parker's fault . I know he is dead but this belongs on his headstone.
How to fix it: the only cure will kill the patient.
Identify the children who are truly interested in having a career or a blue collar job by the 3rd grade. Allow those children to continue with public education. The remainder ? The remainder choses not to be productive members of society so what are we to do with them? Should they remain with mom and dad? Perhaps we can create some type of youth day camp where they can develop entertainment skills such as singing/rap, film making, art and dance , and sports.

Parker has been a running joke for years.
While he was still on the bench, the local media’s annual show depicted him as winning the lifetime achievement award from realtors in Ascension and Livingston for personally being responsible for 30% of home sales in Ascension as well as doubling the sale of double wides and tripling the sales of triple wides in Livingston.

1. clean LSU lakes
2. drainage study
3. redesign college drive, Essen, and seigen to be 2 lane with green space and bike path in the middle

All the things you say sound great they really do....but getting even a few of those things actually done is all but impossible, and being labeled a racist is only one of them and it is a reality and it is a hurdle that ain't going away...it's just not.

Why are the kids from Ascension Parish so much smarter than the kids from Baton Rouge?

The smart kids in AP aren't any smarter than the smart kids in Baton Rouge. Just look at the number of National Merit Scholars from each parish. The difference is that BR has a much larger proportion of really dumb kids who have no interest in learning.

You're dealing with bottom of the barrel because all the students with good parents don’t go there

They should have planned and started the traffic issue 20+ years ago.
Need to arrest and prosecute criminals.

A friend bought a new 308 there in the early 80s.

Clean the city! The weeds along the interstate on I110 are great for people to be one of the first thing they see coming into town.

I agree. This group is amazing. I encourage everyone to follow them on social media. They clean up so many places in BR - they pick up needles, shopping carts, trash, etc. They dig out drains and clean under interstates.
They even put out trash cans that THEY empty on the reg.
But how freaking sad is it that a group of citizens who volunteer a few hours a week can make such a HUGE difference when our city just sits back and watches.
Street clean up should be a rotational job done by the city. It should be dependable and paid for by our tax dollars. It is embarrassing that our citizens are having to cover this.
As for what can be done different in BR. I don't pretend to know. But if we can't even manage our own trash, we are screwed.
