I like falcons as they use fuji guides.
Been building my own rods and use the mudhole MHX blanks.
Actually better balanced than the falcons and work really well.

used falcon coastal in the past, but I’ve broke a few recently.
I just broke a coastal. It was probably my fault. I caught a nice sheepshead and didn’t bring my bigger net in my yak. So I was trying to keep this thing still while sticking my pliers in his mouth cause he swallowed the hook. He kept bouncing out of the net, and finally I guess bent the tip too much and snapped it. I was so mad I threw it back. I was just about to head in.
I bought a Waterloo Phantom to try. It was about the same price as a Coastal, and the rods intrigue me, especially like the custom options.

I’ve always used Penn so I stick with Penn.
I’ve found that changing brands gives inconsistent results.
“Fast” for Penn isn’t the same as “fast” for daiwa jr other brand.

Anyone have experience with their spinning reels? Looking at picking up a couple Epixors or ITXs to go on the DTR rods I bought
I went lower end years ago with a Coronado CDX-65 ABF (baitfeeder) to use for surf fishing. Think I bought it 15 years ago. Still performs almost like new. All I do is rinse it off really well and spray it with real magic after I use it. Probably one of my best purchases ever.
Also bought a smaller Stinson for freshwater. I would say their spinning gear is great. If I could find another stinson I would buy it.
I also have a Longitude surf rod for my baitcaster. I would really like to get one for my spinning reel as well to replace.

Anyone have experience with their spinning reels?I have two. Better than some, but both Daiwa and Shimano are better at the two levels I have. I actually prefer Cadence to Okuma.

Academy H20 Rods are my main saltwater ammo. I go a lot they take a beating. Would never subject a high price rod to that abuse.

waterloo...great rod and backed by great customer service!

I use falcon too.
But I've also used cajun rods for my med-heavy/heavy needs and I love them (even if they aren't made in Louisiana anymore).
One thing I'll say about both of these, the falcon is much better for finesse fishing but the piece that screws down to hold the reel on will not stay tight. The cajun is not so good for finesse fishing but does not have that problem, nor did the St. Croix I used to have.

I have a Cajun Custom "Trigger" spinning rod and I only use it for finesse fishing unweighted soft plastics or light jigheads (1/16). It's really good for that application. I have the 7ft. Light Power/Fast Action

Yeah, definitely could be the rod type. I haven't had a need to try cajun at the medium or light level yet, the falcons have held up so well.

Most all rod manufacturers have rods that can fish light finesse baits. Just wanted to mention that Cajun Customs makes a line that is good for light baits as well. I'm not really brand loyal (I used to be) and have rods from multiple manufacturers now. They all are good for what I use them for. Currently have a mix of Shimano, Falcon, Cajun Customs, G Loomis, Okuma, and FTU
FWIW the oldest rod I still use is a Falcon Coastal and it's been a gem. I still use it often for wadefishing. 6'6" Coastal Series original version circa 2004sh.

These. (3) 7' medium heavy casting rods with rod sox shipped to your house for $120 total. They are on the lighter side of medium heavy.

That's why I have all St Croix. It's not that I think they're the only good rod maker, it's that I know exactly what to expect from their specs. And I can get US made rods from them.
I did try a Halo KS II elite based on a rec here (it was on sale) and the tip broke on my first trip trying to get the worm off an underwater branch.

I have the multiple Waterloo Salinity rods in spin and baitcast. For throwing jigs, I've not found a more sensitive rod at that price point (~$160).
I have one rod that no one else can fish with and it's the Fishing Tackle Unlimited "Green Rod". Best rod that I've owned. But it's almost $400

Good rod! I have one. Use it for "corkys" and suspending plugs while wadefishing. Bought mine for cheap off a guy who only used it a few times.

The Waterloo salinity is the best rod for the money IMO.
I have a falcon coastal and a coastal Clearwater. Both are them are nice, but the Waterloo is better.

Penn Battalions are good rods as well.
