What sort of cheap car should I get?

Technically haven’t owned a car since 2014. Need to get a car. I want to get from point a to point b so I don’t need anything to special. Leaning towards leasing just to take out a lot of the effort out of dealing with a car. Thoughts?

How long do you need to car? If you don't really need it for more than a year or two then leasing may make sense, but if you need a car indefinitely I would buy a Honda or similar with 100k miles on it. You can get another 100k out of it easily if you don't drive like an a-hole and low mileage per year. That will be way more economic than leasing.

Is there such a thing right now?

Not cheap, but reliable, so Toyota or Honda.

People I know were saying Honda CR-V which would be like 215 to lease

I am in the market for a cheap used vehicle for my kid in the next few years so I've been looking around.
I cannot believe what old Toyotas and Hondas are going for with 150k+ miles on them. I've got a bad case of sticker shock and am gonna have to get lucky or plan this very well over the next couple years.

We leased a Honda Civic years ago when ex wife was in law school. Worked out great.
If you're buying, I strongly recommend an old Corolla with 150k+ miles on it to get price down. DO NOT LET THE HIGH MILES dissuade you.
They will last twice that many miles and you'll be happy.

Probably long term but I’m moving and would rather not have to be spending $$$$$$ all at once. Leading has been about half of full buying from what I’m seeing. If I don’t plan on driving that much, I can save as I get reacclimated for a couple of years

The new F150 King Ranches are pretty cheap. Only like $80k or something. If you are looking more for a car I’m pretty partial to the Porsches that start around the same price. It’s a bargain!
