Soooo....
If the Chinese go to war with the USA all the wealthy Chinese lose their investments.
That's one way to stop a War.

I’m convinced China’s continued zero Covid policy is a cover to keep the supply chains fricked to
the west

Just don’t let them buy Coca Cola.

Isn’t foreign investment good for the economy?

Look at how many farms and ranches the chinese investors have purchased on our soil in the last two decades...
Chinese entities owns 290K acres of farmland in the U.S. out of about 900 million acres. They hold a very small amount of U.S. farmland.

A third of the real estate in Vancouver is Chinese investment. They already have over 6 billion in chinese real estate development.

China has a population over 1 billion and barely beat out canada which has a population of 38 million. At over 1 million a home, that’s only 6,000 homes
This is not really significant when millions of homes are sold to citizens each year

Chinese investors lost trillions recently, Foreign investors still see it as a place to invest. Something is fricky.
China and India are still drawing investment because of growth. Something the EU and USA will be doing the opposite of.

People are saying "China is the top foreign buyer". Shouldn't it be "china has the most investors buying into the US housing market"? Its not the Chinese government buying the land right?
Global market.
Global market.

foreigners should not be able to buy farms, ranches, etc.
I don’t think should be able to buy anything critical to a nations own food and manufacturing. No mines, no farms, no large tracts of timber, no energy or refineries or food processors. They can build manufacturing facilities here, but that’s it. They can have farms and such if they rent the property from an American citizen but control of the land must remain in our hands. Also all stock of an American public company must be 90% citizen owned. No more than 10% can be owned by foreigners. And no investment firm or hedge fund company can be more than 25% foreign money

They have to find something to do with all of the US$ we send them every year. You can only spend so much on your own military and infrastructure.
We’re so fricking stupid.

What about the companies that are buying up the $200k to $500k homes in many areas where middle class folks are actually feeling the squeeze?
Those are American investment firms whose stock is held by both citizens and foreigners

In China, the government really does own everything. You can make a fortune, but if you get into trouble with Beijing, they will just take it away.
Buying land and houses in California, or in BC, is a way to put that wealth somewhere safe.

Are they also Chinese?
The companies buying up homes were never the epidemic that the media tried to lead us to believe.
