Says he’s been talking to coaches around the league and the biggest issue with NIL is certain schools promising things they can’t honor. Says some programs are promising things not rooted in reality which is causing recruits to commit without any emotional connection to the program.

He says “the quickest way to fracture locker room is with a few kids being promised a lot of money and them not getting it.” He goes on to say it’s already happening and word is already getting out among future signing classes. “It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.”

“There will be some high profile examples—it won’t take long for this to leak out. I’m telling you it’s coming in the next year or two—…of kids who get burned... That’s not going to go over well. …and when that happens they’ll leave and they’ll talk. And some of them are already doing it.”

When I started to hear Pate, 8&4 is who first came to mind, but I’m pretty sure it isn't them.

Josh clearly said (and repeated it multiple times) he was talking about schools that didn’t have a good NIL plan during the last cycle and hence they started making empty promises to not get left behind. 8&4 was ready for NIL out the gate and they have the money.

I'd be shocked if it was A&M, or any big schools for that matter. They have the money, but if they're promising on things they can't deliver because they didn't put the work in ahead of time, thats pretty bad.

Thanks for posting. That was a good listen.

Seems like there were a few highly ranked recruits that did not read the NIL contract fine print and were verbally overpromised. Hopefully going forward highly ranked recruits' handlers and/or parents will get smarter at reading contracts.

Also in Pate's podcast, it sounded like 247 is doing a rankings update today. That's going to be interesting.

There were multiple Miami fans claiming a few weeks ago this happened with Shemar Stewart and A&M.

We all talked about it on here. Pate is great, he knows his stuff. We were saying this last year though when TAMU was doing this. It was going to hurt them in the locker room and those guys would enter the portal.

Its pretty simple... Kids shouldn't sign a LoI without getting a contract for the money. The problem is that little Timmy from the Hood is being represented by Uncle Joe instead of a real agent with a law degree.
