These 10 states are America’s best places to live in 2022

American workers are in the driver’s seat in ways they haven’t been in years. That’s because there are not nearly enough of them to fill more than 11 million job openings. So, workers increasingly can name their own terms. The calculation comes down to much more than money.
That is why CNBC’s annual America’s Top States for Business study has always measured quality of life, and why it is especially important in this year’s methodology.
Our Life, Health and Inclusion category considers factors such as crime rates, environmental quality, and health care. For the first time in 2022, we also consider the availability of childcare, which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce found remains a major obstacle to parents seeking to reenter the workforce as the pandemic wanes.
For the past several years, we have also considered inclusiveness of state laws in areas like protections against discrimination and voting rights. That’s not politics, it’s business.

People are leaving New Jersey like it's on fire, but sure, it's a great place to live.
Come for the high taxes, stay for the corrupt politics.

New Jersey makes the list suspect
Plus no Utah, Texas, Arizona, Nevada or Florida which are the states everybody is moving to

New Jersey and Hawaii aren't overly white but the rest of the list is mighty pasty.

Hawaii?
Massive cost of living because everything has to be imported, land is expensive as hell because it is in short supply, etc.
NJ being on the list has to be a punchline to the NYC types too.

frick that. All those places are weird AF. I'd visit but not live there.
Maybe I'd live in Hawaii but I have no idea what I'd do for a living there. Would love to just sort of relax and life a slow paced life if I could afford it.

North Dakota
Okay this one could be awesome.

Minnesota
Nope. This place is miserable in the winter, and their largest city is hollowing out.

Washington
No income taxes, but high costs of living. Otherwise cool.

Nebraska
What do you do there?

New Jersey
If Chalmette was a state.... No thanks.

Oregon
Once you get out of Portland, Oregon is pretty cool.

Iowa
What do you do there?

Wrong!
There is only one state that is the best and it is whichever state I am in at the time. It's the best state of mind

Seattle and Portland in your backyard? Forget it.

Vermont, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin are the future

I don’t know about you mate but I would be pretty happy to reside in Hawaii. I don’t know why Georgia and Mississippi aren’t on this list, everyone seems to do well for themselves in those states.

Same stuff you do anywhere.
Cities have the breweries, restaurants and distilleries. That's all people seem to do anymore.

Louisiana must be no. 11.

If you have the money to enjoy it, Hawaii can be fun.
Problem is that the costs there are through the fricking roof and you can’t really put everything in a U-Haul and move to another state when you are ready to go.
