Yeah, people need to rewatch Breaking Bad. They think Saul is way more connected to Gus and the cartel in BB than he really was. Remember when he asked Walt if Gus mentioned him? Asked Jesse to put in a good word? I’m not sure they ever even met. I think he’s about to get away from the cartel business after this until Walt brings it back into his life in Season 2 when he walks in as Badger’s uncle. He’s got Mike for other things—but I think even they don’t have very much contact in the years between this and Breaking Bad (not none, just not as much as they’ve had during this series).

I don't know what lesson it taught Jimmy, since he went on to become full Saul. Seems like instead of teaching him a lesson it pushed him further down the wrong fork in the road.
Again, I think some of y’all need to watch Breaking Bad again. Saul is a character, a costume that Jimmy puts on every day. And yeah, he’s sleazy, but I don’t think he’s anywhere near as terrible of a human as some of seem to think. Walt brought the meth business, Gus, and the cartel back into his life—he didn’t go searching for it. And we saw that once Walt got a hold of him, he wouldn’t let him go—Saul was back in the game. Which put him in a position to make some morally questionable ( ) choices. But they were done out of survival, not any sort of malevolence.
Saul becomes weak, not evil. And I think that weakness is even more evidence that Kim is not around in BB. She was his rock, who gave him strength to do things he never would have been able to without her (like bringing the money through the desert, being willing to sacrifice himself for her this episode by sending her out instead of him, etc…) He doesn’t have that in BB. So I’m not sure Jimmy ever really truly “becomes” Saul. Like I said, it’s a character, a costume or mask he puts on every day. But he’s still Jimmy underneath.

This is exactly the scene in BB that explains why Kim could be in trouble and not Jimmy.
Saul only knows about the meth through Nacho, Lalo & Mike...and that was only a tiny bit of information.
The only time Jimmy met Gus is when Mike had him go into Los Pollos to see if he saw anything suspicious. Gus helped him get his watch out of the garbage and that was the end of the interaction. Jimmy was none the wiser as to the purpose or who Gus really is.
I will say this could go either way and the Kim being vacuumed theory is in a 50/50 state for me at the moment.

I don’t remember that scene. Do you recall which season/episode it was?
Referring to when Saul met Gus.

Although Kim still doesn't know who Gus is, I wonder if Gus's surprising disregard for Nacho's life despite Mike's pleas is setting him up to have some obsession over Kim being a threat or a loose end. Just a random thought, I only notice aobut 10% of the details of the show that many on this thread see.

This is exactly how I'm seeing it. Gus might be spooked knowing Kim was willing to shoot him and she knows his strategy for hiding using a doppelganger.

Good point. Mike may insist Kim disappears, and takes it in his own hands, versus Gus having her clipped.

And she knows where he lives.
ie-Can easily get his name/identity.

Every time I watch an episode of BCS I just find myself wishing I was half as smart as all the people involved with this show

I'm pretty much in awe of Vince Gilligan.
Came up with a really simple premise: dying HS chemistry teacher turns to cooking meth to support his family after he's gone...and turned that into all...all THIS. A whole universe with so many great subplots.
It's pure genius.

My 16 year old son has taken a liking to BCS and is watching the whole series and hasn’t seen BB. It was so funny the other day because he paused it right as hank was introduced and went outside to shoot basketball. He was totally disinterested in the moment since he had no idea the significance of DA Hank Schrader. It’s going to be interesting to watch Breaking Bad with him when BCS is over.

Regarding all the posts about Kim being done - this is the proof against Ham's theory. She is toast. He can ignore it if he wants, but he would see it too if he really tried.
And this (below) was the biggest hint of all. Relating it back to only 1 toothbrush being there in the season opener, I think that proves Kim does not come back from this. It worked for Saul, but I don't think Kim was able to stop thinking about it and will never be able to get over it.

I really wonder if the guilt of Howards demise eats at Kim and what happens from that

Kim is fried

we had another nod to kim leaving without shoes (like from her past) and a toothbrush end quote being a nod to the 1 toothbrush in saul's mansion.
1) kim is the person saul tells francesca to call at that random time/date. meaning kim is not working with saul in BB they only talk 1x a year.
quote:
After tonight, I think the guilt definitely gets to her and, she likely peace’s out in the middle of an upcoming night. She wants out of that life, but she also feels guilty for pushing the plan on Jimmy and putting his life in danger. I think J+K=S during BB is officially dead. Sorry bout you, Ham.
quote:
Rewatching it now and noted Jimmy turned into Saul negotiating with Lalo to get Kim out of there.
Kim was a puddle of emotions.

a very in your face toothbrush reference. saul only had 1 toothbrush in his house in the opener of the season.

Alot of good points in this thread.
I really think that Kim pointing to the Gus body double was a key point in last episode.
Gus ain't taking that risk knowing Kim could basically point him out now.
