So many people have social anxiety now. They know how to text better than speak out loud. The masks allow them to hide even more.

Anyone voluntarily doing it, question their sanity, unless theyre frail.

I still mask up if I'll be in a crowded area.

I look younger and healthier than I am, thanks to my career in my 20s.

Guess I'd just say that maybe you should mind your own business.

Masks
Don't
Do
Anything

If they cannot stop Asbestos, they cannot stop something half the size. I am not minding anyone's business, but if you were self choking yourself with your own hands to keep from drowning in a pool, I would question it.

The fact that your answer is mind you own business means you intellect has been questioned and challenged and all you have is anger.

This is a bigger factor than ppl think IMO. Anecdotal for sure, but there’s a common thread among everyone I know who is still mask-obsessed and it’s not their politics

Young girl in my office periodically goes back to wearing hers when the cases pick up. She's pretty sane and has parents with some preexisting conditions that she's around often, I think.

I doubt it's effective, but she just doesn't want to be the possible source of her parents getting seriously sick and regret not making that effort, questionable as it is. I'm not sure I'd call it reasonable, but I get it.

Koolaid Game also known as Vermont Show. Must be fully vaxed and boosted with all 15 'jabs' and have a mask on your chin and ready. Goal is to pretend like you care about other people's health at a moments notice. Cool recognizes cool. Like skaters knew another skater in 90's because they wore Puma shoes.

You seem intelligent and well-educated on the topic.

SIAP-

There are three categories.

Simon Says

1: Stupid people who are just gullible and believe anything that Simon Says. Simon says put on the mask. Simon says it's ok to take it off. Simon says put it back on. Now take it off... Simon didn't saaaay! This includes people who are just worried because their paw paw has a pre-existing condition. Simon Said the masks work so they do what he says.

The Virtue Signal

2: Virtue signalling liberals who now only wear it because it irritates many on the right. Oh you don't like the mask do ya? I'm going to wear it just to piss you off! There is still a lingering political element to the masking. This group also includes non-political people who are simply afraid of being shamed or glared at by others for not wearing the mask.

The Butterface Effect

3: People who are insecure about their facial features, particularly women, but some men. They are more confident going out in public with pretty eye makeup but their nose and/or mouth is funny looking and makeup can't fix that, so the mask helps with their self esteem. It's an equalizer of sorts, among women who don't have attractive faces. I actually kind of feel sorry for these people.

Edit to Add-

There is a 4th category I forgot about.

The Dindu

4: Now that it is socially acceptable to go wherever I want while covering my face, I will stay masked up all the time to make it harder for cops to bust me doing bad shite, and harder for potential victims to become wary or suspicious of me as they would have been in 2019 if I walked into a Quicktrip wearing a mask.

There was a guy with a mask under his chin at the car wash the other day. It wasn’t affecting me, but it made me pissed. Probably cause he was playing his radio loud by the vacuums.

It's weird. They wear the mask but won't get the vaccine.

But if the cloth masks don't work, then what difference does it make if they are healthy or not, dumbass?

I find it societally abnormal. I prefer normal society and always thought the quicker we all strived to go back to that, the better things would be.

Does that equate to it actually bothering me. I don't know. I mean, I'm not going to rant or scream at people about it. I just have my preferences. Does THAT bother anyone?

I honestly want the Karens to keep masking up so I can spot them from a distance and not engage with them.
