Dude, it was warmer in the medieval warming period and just as warm in the Roman warming period. That’s just in the last 2000 years. We are in a natural warming trend that will end abruptly and go the other direction in the near earth future. People act like the earth will just continue getting warmer and never stop. That’s not how the climate works

There is a physics-based chart that shows the effect of CO2 as a greenhouse gas in the atmosphere that I looked for last week and could not find (I have seen it before on the net). We know that in the past CO2 has been as high as 1200 ppm. CO2 is currently at about 400 ppm. We also know that below 186 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere, all plant life will die (a bad thing). CO2 as a greenhouse gas has a logarithmic effect in that a little bit has a big effect. Once you get above 100 ppm to 150 ppm, adding a whole bunch more does not add much warming. Since most of the CO2 in the atmosphere is natural and from sources that can not be controlled, going carbon neutral is just fricking asinine. Actual science shows these stupid motherfrickers picked the wrong gas to demonize.
The reason why H20 has the largest impact on global warming (95%) is due to the fact it goes though phase changes. No other atmospheric molecule does that. It takes substantial energy to change phases (latent heat of fusion and condensation/evaporation).
Furthermore increases in CO2 likely has VERY little to do with man and more to do with the sun. An active sun increases ocean temps which releases dissolved CO2 and other gases. It's been awhile but I've seen data that illustrates that CO2 concentrations lag temperature changes driven by the sun. Active sun warms oceans and releases more CO2. Inactive sun allows oceans to cool and oceans dissolve more CO2 from the atmosphere.

Here’s a graph
Co2 lags temperature increase by hundreds of years

Go outside. Grass green? Trees have leaves? Can you go outside without bursting into flames?

Tell him to go get an EV and save the world!
And also tell him that EVs consume fossil fuels, so he is fricked either way!
Mother Nature knows what she is doing!

its a religeon with them
it doesnt matter how much science, data, facts, and they will still believe the fairy tales, cultists never willingly leave the cult. sometimes you can tie them to a chair and deprogram them over a long time but in the end, they will believe whatever they wish to believe

"science" Only a few outliers in the IPCC have a +5C over 100 years at exponential increasing CO2 output.
Their models have never been close to right. They burn way too hot historically. They manipulate the shite out of the data and have been caught red handed several times.
Here is how they manipulated the famous hockey stick graph:

Called a trace gas for a reason

The OP can point him to the IPCC and show he's being silly. That's how far outta wack his relative is. (He's not alone).

Just chuckle and mock anyone who doesn’t realize the “climate crisis” is manufactured.

Both of these are very good and well documented with source references. Both authors are not what you would call climate change deniers. They are real environmentalist and buy in to man made climate change but they diverge from the alarmist crowd that the media seems to exclusively champion.
Their approach is summed up as:
Yes, climate change is real and is a serious issue, but it is not a catastrophe and mankind will be able to adjust and adapt to it. We don't need to stop using fossil fuels.

Show them the greenland ice-core samples for the last 17,000 years. The temperature varied so much, beyond man's control.

Have a relative who is convinced that the earth's temperature is going to go up by 5 degrees in the next 10-15 years unless we get carbon neutral by the end of the year.
It’s all irrelevant if you don’t believe in the first place that the US federal government has the ability to manipulate the climate of the Earth as it sees fit.
False Alarm by Bjorn Lomborg is an interesting read, if you want to hear a counter argument.

I believe the climate is changing. I'm close to 50 and the climate is different from when I was a kid. It's like the weather/ climate has shifted from our static calendar. IOW, I don't remember March being so cold so often, or September carrying 90 deg heat until almost October.
Also, it's a known fact the "dry line" has shifted 140 miles to the East in the last 20 years or so. This is why we're getting tornadoes from LA up through Ark, Miss, Ala, Tenn, Mo, Ky. Like we never had when I was younger.
This Dry Line shift gives me a bit anxiety as far as good production goes for the US
