Yeah because Maelstrom had the same kind of history attached to it as Splash Mountain does.

Disney sucks, but I’d understand if there reasoning was that the kids these days don’t know why the frick the characters are, and princess and the frog is more relevant to todays kids but Disney is woke and gotta get rid of da racism.

TBH I thought it had already changed. Splash Mountain is a fun little ride, but the characters are antiquated, in that kids today don't know who they are.

Plus, Princess and the Frog is one of the cutest animated films Disney has ever made. The characters are lovable, and there are moral lessons all over it. Tiana works hard, loves her family, and still finds her prince in the end. I mean, who doesn't love Louis and Ray? They're hilarious.

I say this as a person who has taken her kids to Disney exactly one time. The parks are not my jam.

So I'm MAD [NOT MAD]

Let’s rally against this and claim it’s not woke enough so that they have to change it again.

I don't care how they rebrand it. I just don't see how it fits the story.

Bayous don't have mountains, steep drop offs, etc.

When I think Bayou ride, I think slow, mozy with bursts of excitement.

Compare Light year's box office to Minions. Disney/Pixar is getting murdered.

We used to visit WDW at least yearly, but Disney has lost us. Too woke, too crowded, too expensive for a now watered down experience. If we want to visit a theme park in Orlando, Universal is now our first choice. Just a much better experience all around.

Song of the South was never released on home video in the U.S.. I certainly didn't know who the characters were when I was a kid, and I always loved the ride.

I have no problem with a rebrand of a ride. I personally really enjoy Splash Mountain & don’t agree with it being deemed “racist”. it’s about time the Louisiana princess get her own ride though. If Diz is smart (which they’re not) they could develop a decent Nola themed restaurant to go along with ride & jazz bands (2nd line) or something.

If they're going with a New Orleans theme...

That was a fantastic rebrand. They kept everything the same and just made it Frozen theme instead of generic Norse themed. Frozen is Norse theme anyway and belongs in that Norway section. This splash mountain rebrand is virtue signaling - taking something that was believed to be racist by ignorant people and swapping it for something that will “lift up black people”. There’s no relation between the two and no reason for a bayou adventure to occur on a mountain

If it’s a real New Orleans ride they should kidnap 1/100 people and just shoot 1/1000 so they can get real New Orleans experience

It’s a theme park ride. How many people are going to get off and say damn that ride sucked because their aren’t any mountains in the bayou never riding it again.

Well, it was the Norway experience ride at the Norwegian Pavilion ... I don't think there's many black people in Norway.
