Last two months $120
This month $200

Glad I put in that new Trane AC unit in a few years ago.
With the previous 20 yr old unit, I'd be easily $300.

I opened the Entergy App and saw "$378.91 Due on 7/8/22" and thought I was seeing shite. Those fuel adjustments are absolutely brutal. FJB.

Theres this thing called “thermodynamics”, it describes the ability of the HVAC system you have to maintain the same temperature inside your residence while Mother Nature is averaging a much higher temperature outside of your house over the recent month.

You should look into it.

I just got mine yesterday and it is $294. Highest it's been in a long damn time. I have had a lot of people over at my house the last month though and it's been pretty damn hot.

I keep my thermostat at 74 during the day and turn it down to 71 as soon as I walk in the door in the afternoon. My bill was $166.

I keep mine on 65 degrees 24/7 and have 2 separate AC units on 2 separate meters because my house has an attached apartment. Though the apt I keep on 72 because we don’t spend as much time over there we use it for the SO office for her business and the other half is my personal sports bar for hanging out.

I dread this electric bill. Last year it usually was 250-300 for main house and 125-150 for apartment

My highest bill was last year for August and it was $128... This bill is projected to be around $180... I am tight with the AC.. Luckily my house is well insulated so I figure I run the AC an average of about 6-7 hours a day get it to 71 and shut it off and go to bed.. We still have about 4 large bills this year and those bills will break $200. FJB...

I just turned off the central air and turned on the window unit still installed after Ida after reading this thread. Figure that'll keep the house manageable while the central air isn't running, especially on cloudy days. Gonna have to get used to the house being 75/76 degrees during the day I guess because frick a $500 electric bill.

If you really want to use the window unit, use fans to move the air from the room you have the unit in. It will make a huge difference. Not ceiling fans, floor fans/tower fans.

do some of you have 6000 sq ft houses with terrible insulation?

i mean i'm at almost 3000 with cathedral ceilings in half the house and tons of windows, leaky doors everywhere and my bill was $150 last month, $170 this month, and that's about normal compared to last year. I've got a 5 and 3 ton unit and keep the house at 73 all day and 68 at night.

how are some of you racking up $500 bills?

I don’t think I’ve spent that much on electricity yet this year, much less in a month.

In addition to A/C in the house, I have a climate controlled 30x40 shop, a welder and a large air compressor that run at least minimally every day.

And I'm using my boat almost every day, so it stays plugged in to charge the 3 batteries.
