The Baton Rouge Police Department said officers issued 56 traffic tickets, seized six guns, three of which were stolen, arrested two fugitives, nine felons and arrested 11 people for misdemeanors.

So they could address other crimes if they had just upheld the fricking law in the first place???

Who knew?

Good! Impound every single vehicle on the scene(s), pile on as many fines as legally possible, and do not release any of the vehicles until all fines have been paid in full.

owner of Port Allen raceway gonna sue BRPD soon.

It sounds like there are bigger problems here than just "racing cars"

A lot of places don't have the logistics to arrest and detail 22 adults.

Handling crowds is one thing; handling rowdy belligerent large crowds has to take planning.

I wonder how many transport buses are available within a hundred miles of where I live.
Not that they've ever been needed.

We blast BRPD a lot, and the chief. But this is a positive. Nice to see they’re at least trying not be a lawless place like Nola.

What are the odds that all 22 were black?

It was noticeably quieter this weekend. Not as many revving engines and peel outs as usual.

This story is a week old and predates his DUI.

It depends on how creative they want to be.

It is a positive, but really how hard was it? Don’t the street racers “advertise” their events on social media and everyone knows where to show up?

I can assure you that something’s not adding up here.

And just like that being proactive gets guns and violent offenders off of the street. Imagine if BRPD proactively patrolled high violent crime areas again looking for traffic violations.

good job BRPD for addressing this and giving the public something to compliment you on instead of bashing you.

It seems low priority I know but I have seen so much of this in the past year it’s good to see they are finally doing something. I saw some idiot on Florida in a charger going so fast and swerving that it startled an older woman driving and she nearly wrecked.
