Bush hogging or cutting. Usually it depends on the scenario. If we are out in the woods we call it bush hogging. If it’s out in a well manicured field, then we say he’s cutting the field.

It is "bush hoggin'" but I have heard LA folks refer to a "Slash" as a clear cut area in the middle of the woods for a deer stand and food plot. (I.e., "the stand in the Slash").

The people in the middle of the state call it shredding. We always Bush hog our pastures.

Slashng is clearing brush, as a slash pile is the same as a brush pile. I call what I think you are describing as "shredding", using a shredder, which is more properly called a rotary cutter. Bush Hog is a manufacturer of rotary cutters/shredders, as shown in the photos above.

It’s bush hog man. Slashing gets you life in prison. Brush hog is someone who won’t give up the brush to do your do.

Grew up in west Texas and we referred to it as shredding. Would shred cotton stalks after stripping the cotton.
