An older retired couple from West Texas just bought the place down the road. Yesterday they were brush hogging the 10 acres that separate our properties.
I caught them outside yesterday and mentioned they were ‘brush hogging.” Neither of them had ever heard the term. They both called it “slashing,” a term I’ve never heard.

My foreman handles those types of things.

I believe I’ve overheard the term “bush hog” in his presence.

Deep South it is bush hogging. Out West slashing as in slash and burn.

Your status as redneck is in serious question. It’s bush hog.

Right.
I’m familiar with the brand Bush Hog, but just assumed people knew it was a brand name

I’ve only heard it called bush hogging or “clipping” if it’s a hay field.
