is 10 days enough to cover NYC/NJ/Philly?

Getting a month break between jobs and planning to take the family to NYC for 10 days

You can see almost everything in Philly in a single day, but I guess that depends on what you want to see. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell do not take that long and they're just a few yards from each other. Franklin Institute is fun for kids, Eastern State Penitentiary and the Mutter Museum are interesting as well.
As for NJ, not sure what you're looking for there honestly
Princeton is a nice town, but it's just a town. Great Adventure is pretty great especially for a Six Flags park. There's nothing worth seeing in Jersey City, Newark, or Hoboken. Everything good in New Jersey is south of New Brunswick.
You can spend a year in New York and not see everything but you'll be able to get in everything you want (probably)

Philly and surrounding areas can be a good 1-2 days, maybe 3 if you wanna drive out to Gettysburg and amish country.

If you're just checking off tourist sites then yea, that's enough time. If you are trying to experience the city then that takes much more time. I just spent 5 days in NYC, my 5th trip there over the years, and just scratched the surface.

I agree. To me, by far the two best things about Philly are the sports and the food. The Reading Terminal Market is a must, is basically the biggest food court you have ever been to. I personally recommend Herschel's East Side Deli and any of the Amish bakeries (there are lots of them).

Personally dislike NYC, and it’s place I would never take kids there, but 3 nights is good for the sights

Philly sucks.
In NJ, a gem many don't even know about is Grounds For Sculputure in Hamilton off I-295. Beautiful park grounds with outdoor sculptures and scenes. I lived here in NJ for my whole life and didn't think it would be anything I'd be interested in until I got dragged there 5 years ago and LOVED it. Truly worth a day.
Also the Battleship NJ in Camden on the river just across from Philly is a neat tour.
A stroll around Lambertville NJ and walk across the bridge and stroll around New Hope, PA is lovely.

as to your original question, yes, it's plenty of time because you'd only need a day for Philly and zero days for New Jersey.

The Jersey Shore, specifically Stone Harbor/Avalon/Cape May is what I would seek out NJ. Cape May is awesome. You could also do atlantic city if you are interested in gambling but beyond the casinos there isn't much worth checking out.
ETA the people hating on Philly don't know shite about it

I have only been to the Natural History museum, which was decent. What other museums do you recommend?

I don't know if you go to Jersey for the express purpose of strolling through Lambertville/New Hope, but it's a pretty good plan if you're in the Trenton/Princeton area. There's decent shopping and restaurants on both sides of the bridge. It's also just up River Road from Washington Crossing Park.

Agree 100% on the Reading Terminal Market. I had a conference across the street for a week and I ate most of my meals here and still had some places I wanted to try. Definitely worth a visit!
