Thank you, incredibly cool pics.

Ever noticed how our forefathers (regardless of color) dressed better than most folks of today?

I look at pictures of my Grandfather, and there isn't ONE where he looks slovenly.

It was a constant 55 degrees all summer long until Ford began making Model-T's, then it's been downhill since.

What kind of fool supposes the North is any less racist?

This board is simply a place where people can post their opinions without fear of Fascists destroying their lives.

The notion that Californians, New Yorkers or anyone from supposedly more progressive states aren't just as or often MORE racist than your average Southerner is pure idiocy.

These supposedly progressive people simply hide their racism while virtue-projecting.

Many black folks sacrificed and suffered a great deal so that their children and grandchildren would have a better world.

It seems that might have been in vain.

I was curious as why they were celebrating Juneteenth in Virginia. Makes sense that they had their own, separate holiday.

Juneteenth was something special to Texas, but is now national because it has a catchy name.

Of course, those celebrating outside Texas probably have no clue that legal slavery still existed in the US after June 19, 1865 (until Dec 18, 1865 and the adoption of 13th Amendment).

Those are good pictures.

I don't know why you had to shite on the carriage photo, comparing those well dressed ladies to some hood rat with rims.

The picture says Richmond and Emancipation Day. Juneteenth originates in Texas. Emancipation Day is April 16th.

So probably not that hot.

Could you imagine getting a time machine and asking a black woman from that era to come back with you.

Then you ask her to twerk to Wet arse Pussy?

Our society has absolutely gone to complete shite, and quickly.

These guys are likely "Buffalo Soldiers", regiments of black troops formed after the civil war as part of the military presence in the West (including Texas), and also from one of the two cavalry regiments due to the swords and hats. Photo in 1900 may have been for a reunion or other event.

Looked like it was a much bigger thing back then

In 1900 it’s likely some of those people were actually slaves, and almost of their parents were so I imagine it was a bigger deal

I mean in general, not just the black culture, but yeah. It's insane how far down we've fallen as a society.
