FR33 had me post it in my other thread, but now I’m wondering. What is this thing?

(Inb4 penis pump)

It weighs about 5 lbs, over 2’ tall. It’s not hand blown, from what I can tell.

Can you take a pic of the top? Is that removeable? Can you post a pic of the interior?

The top is not removable. It’s basically a bell shaped piece of heavy glass. There is no bottom.

Could it simply be a display dome? They had lots of them in the Victorian era and I have seen some with top but most were designed for better grip than that one appears to have.

If it's thick walled, it's pretty expensive to make and it's probably a glass bell jar for sciencing and whatnot. They're used to withstand low vacuums for experimentation.

If it's thin walled, it's cheaper to make but can't handle a vacuum, so it's probably a display jar or candle cloche as others have said.

That’s what I was thinking. The gauge of the glass is super thick (1/8”+ thick), maybe used as a vacuum chamber, but the height is what’s throwing me off.
A candle cloche is probably a very thin glass.

I would agree with you except the thickness of the glass is throwing me off.

The ones you posted above are probably just regular thin glass, you could probably break with a simple bump of a sharp object.
The piece I have is super thick (1/8” or more thick). It could take a pretty good hit to break. If I was to describe it, it feels like a giant vintage bottle of Coca-Cola. It is solid.
