So then I said that the only refinement that needs to happen is a relaxation of the stupid gun legislation that got us into this mess.

You didn't read one post lol. What gun laws do you think there should be? Should there be any at all?

Nobody wants to force teachers to arm. We want to allow teachers that feel confident In handling a firearm to go through extensive training and qualify to have a gun in their classroom. Preferably in a biometrical locked safe like a fingerprint safe.
Same guy said regulation on firearms should be removed but also teachers aren't competent enough to carry.

Apparently he trust them with his children all day but not with a gun because of a potential militia organization but also anyone with any mental health status and legal background should be able to buy a gun.

Thats DPS bruh, not the PD

Yeah DPS would have wrecked shop I believe. And dear God if they'd managed to wound the shooter and take him into custody, he'd have later died of blunt force trauma.

Watched one hold his own "no refusal" session on a DUI arrest. We were to draw blood the guy said "no". But he'd caused some injury to others in his chase and accident and ran his mouth enough. We held the guys cuffed hands in front of him (to draw blood) while DPS hammer fisted the dude in the chest and almost choked him out.

That's like saying we need to get the 350 million guns off the street out there. It ain't happening (though I agree some of those things you listed cause major problems).

Usually these disturbed people give many signs that they are about to go on a rampage. The grandparents should have known when he purchased the two guns as soon as he turned 18. He also texted some kid he knew pics of the guns with all the ammo and when the kid asked what he was doing with all of it, he said, "Don't worry about it." He was throwing hints left and right probably looking for someone to confront him or give him attention. That's probably the best chance to stop any of these people who go through with this kind of crap.

I hate the locked gun in a box argument.

A few random teachers concealed carrying would be enough of a deterrent.

Even the presence of signs saying armed personnel are present would make a world of difference. Might be all we need.

Any weapon above a .22lr with a a magazine that is in excess of 10 rounds does not qualify as a hunting rifle. You just have to be 21 to purchase and 18 to possess

How did you come up with this parameter?

The Parkland shooter legally purchased an AR under the age of 21 IIRC. I believe Florida also changed the legal age to buy one in the state in response.

Ah. I didn’t know that. I recalled the sandy hook guy stole his moms AR. But I don’t think it’s crazy if civilians need to be 21 to buy a long gun or semi automatic long gun.

Problem is, the gun grabbers will never be satisfied. much (if not most) gun crime is committed by illegally possessed handguns. Only a very small sliver of gun violence is committed with any long guns, much less ARs. Those are just the high profile crimes.

I also think the media/left really want to disarm conservatives. The outlandish teeth gnashing over the unarmed Jan 6 thing shows that. So they want to stop suburban dads from owning ARs. Then they’ll move on to other types of guns. Who needs a pistol with more than 6 bullets? A revolver or shotgun is all anyone needs for self defense! You only need a bolt action for hunting! Nobody needs anything bigger than a 30-06!

Absolutely! Every lefty, every single person who votes Dem, supports the welfare state, fatherless households, and anti-white racism. Those are core tenets of the prog faith.

I don’t know if those things impact school shootings so much, although fatherless households surely do, but those things must be addressed if our nation is to thrive and not just limp along as a third world shithole as South Africa is becoming.

I get it - he would have just used a different gun, but there no chance He would have been nearly as effective with holding off officers with a handgun, shotgun or hunting rifle.

Dude, they didn’t even fricking try to get in the room. An off duty border patrol agent had to come in who was literally in the middle of getting a haircut to take him out. This guy could have had a revolver and still killed the same number of kids.

That guy didn't take out the killer. He rescued his wife and kid.

It was a different BP agent

We need to go full Tywin Lannister on this police department’s arse. Make an example out of them that no other police department will ever forget.

It’s pretty amazing to watch the left not talk about the cops here.

They burned down the country because some criminal overdosed in their custody, but they completely fail to protect a school of innocent children and if we say anything “it’s distracting” to the real argument of guns are bad

Progressives and their mental gymnastics are exhausting

Typical Lester. Nothing of substance to say.

Face it, you don’t have an argument. You just repeat what you heard on MSNBC that guns are bad. Maybe one day you will think for yourself.

I would love to factually know how many of these have been thwarted in the past. No way to know if they would have gone through it or not but how often are these tips followed up on? To what extent? How many similar 'tips' are authorities receiving in the average month? Lots here I'd like to know.

It does seem like most of them have dropped hints in the proceeding days/weeks. Somebody usually knew something was up.

Aren't you a LEO or former LEO? If so, what are your thoughts on what happened here? Was this complete cowardice or is there something else we don't know that may have contributed to this?

I want to hear it from a LEO perspective because this seems like cowardice to me.

5 minute delay, I get it. Scared shitless and unsure what to do about the fact that there are kids in the school so you can't go in guns blazing. But after 5 minutes of gunshots, the kids in there are the reason your busting through something to try to stop it.

This is next to impossible in our current climate. Have you seen our U.S.Assistant Health Secretary? Do you want this person making decisions on whether you're "mentally capable" of exercising a constitutional right?
