100% agree. When people on this board preach about this impending dystopia who do they think will carry out the marching orders?

That post wasn’t directed at anything you said Abraham, I can tell you know your shite. If was more in response to that poster that seems quite angry and was talking about procedures that weren’t very sensible.

And yes, we are in agreement on not giving ground. You take the best cover you can and move when he moves. I know it’s easier said than done and scary as hell, but retreating just means those kids and women don’t have a chance.
All good.

Look, I've been a victim of protocol.

I stopped a guy carrying a shotgun at low-ready at about 0300 on a public sidewalk in a high crime area. I asked him to ground his weapon. I checked him out. He was just out for a walk. I suppose he complained and I had to go to IA. I told them that I was aware there were no laws broken and that given the givens I'd do it all again.

We also had a GO that required more than one officer to respond to a dom batt. Hostile, volatile...I get that. I get sent to a dom batt, park a few doors down and can hear glass breaking, crying, yelling, cursing, etc. Got on the radio and told dispatch to clear the traffic and let Sarge know I was going in. Dude was naked and tearing up the house. Neither party struck the other. No crime. Lieutenant called me on the carpet and ripped my arse.

Both cases got me some time on the beach (suspended without pay).

No ragerts.

Sometimes you have to do what your heart tells you to, protocol be damned. We called it JDLR - just don't look right. When it's JDLR, you gotta do something other than sitting on your hands.

Seems like this 80% Hispanic community has issues.

Yeah, seems like they were unprepared.

I was kind of leaning towards the PD doing the best they could - small community, no experience with things like this, limited resources.

Then 808 (I think) posted the pic of a 10-person SWAT team. So resources don't appear to be an issue. They just failed to prepare and prepared to fail.

I hope something comes out where all but one of them was on PTO or something, otherwise they need to flush that "SWAT" team.

I would be uncontainable minus being mortally wounded. There isn’t a soul that could stop me from reaching my girls minus being totally taken out of the fight. Period.

Supposedly there was an incident in 2020 as well. So 3 total in 4 years? Thats a serious problem. Something funny is going on down there.

Did you watch the damn video? There were at least a 1/2 dozen cops doing jack shite. I understand the scenario. Every boot Infantry LT knows you have to set local security……but it doesn’t take every swinging dick to do it when you have a target right in front of you in the building!

I hear you and understand… I just find it hard to believe this particular department (that we now know is heavily financed and equipped) wouldn’t have the proper protocols in place after what we’ve learned in the 20+ years since Columbine. Not to mention the heavier emphasis on moving to the shooter as quick as possible as the procedures have evolved.

And if the protocols are in place to immediately go to the shooter and they didn’t, oh boy.

Yup I’d be as uncontrollable as Mel Gibson’s character in The Patriot when he had no choice but to murder dozens of British soldiers that were going to kill his children. And if cops tried to forcibly stop me from confronting a madman attempting to slaughter my child, they’d have another problem on their hands as well. At that point I would care less about any potential legal ramifications. Lock me up in prison afterwards, I really wouldn’t care at that point. Either the cops go in with me guns drawn or myself and any other parent that feels the need to join me is barging in. I am not stopping until either the gunman or myself is dead, which ever comes first. If my child’s life is on the line, I would have zero issues taking a handgun to confront someone with an AR-15. All I would need is one shot. Better than standing there with your thumb up your arse for AN HOUR waiting on “backup”.

The FBI was warned hours before he went off and did nothing.
