All Star AC in St. Amant. They were referred to me by good friends.

It's a small company but I'm happy with the service they provided.

For reference I just bought a bunch of 5 ton units from a friend who owed me a favor. His cost was right around $3k ea. for 5 ton 14 seer heat pumps with air handlers. Trane generic brand, the trane ones were a few bucks more.

You got ripped. You can get a 10lb bottle off eBay way cheaper than that and put it in yourself.

Old air conditioners don’t burn through refrigerant like an old car burns through oil. You have a leak. Get a technician to find it and fix it. You’ll probably get many more years out of it.

You and the seller could face high dollar fines if the EPA decides to track those sales. You need a license to buy & sell refrigerant.

They also have two more tiers. Run Tru, and Ameristar. Both Trane.

My 5 ton died. I was shocked as to what the replacement cost was. We always made fun of the trade school kids that went to HVAC school after lunch. Not anymore……
