Flights are up marginally but nothing beyond normal fluctuations. You just have to know where and how to look.

It’s wild. Went to cali for 4 nights. Ate cheap. Stayed in a cheap airbnb outside of the city.

It was like 2k for just me to get there, eat and sleep.

Just flew direct from New Orleans to DC yesterday for ~$300 round trip (tickets were bought a month ago). Have a flight to directly Denver in a couple weeks from New Orleans, for $260, also purchased about a month ago.

The bright side is these high prices will weed out the trash who start fights on airplanes, and has turned the industry into a Greyhound bus.

Lucky that I booked my flights in January for a vacation.

To be fair you should only do this one way and then stay.

FIFY. Tried to get a van/suv for a week, and they're wanting over $1,000. Like, damn, I didn't want an ownership share.

Holiday weekends suck no matter where you go. The airports are packed. Roads are packed. Prices are jacked up more than usual just for these weekends then go back down.

IMO the best thing to do on holiday weekends is relax at home. Let people come to you.

For cheaper drinks in south beach for pregaming go to Lola’s Surf Cantina adjacent to the Marriott Stanton. Good food and much cheaper drinks than the regular SOBE places.

Amtrak prices are lower than flights, if you are going somewhere where Amtrak goes.

Biggest downfall of Amtrak is time.

It is nice if you have 2 weeks to see the countryside via a train, but if you have to get to A to B in a specific time window, flying is where it is at. Or just go by car, it may take longer, but on a flight between Houston to New Orleans that is only 40-50 minutes long, the waits at the airport are the killer, plus car rental rates are high. You may end up better just driving if you want mobility, even if it is 5-10 hour drive.

One piece of advice if you are planning on coming here for the holidays (which one, Memorial weekend or Labor day?), stay away from S Beach. Yeah I know is the beach, the Art Deco, the girls, the clubs, the tropical feel, etc. but in reality South Beach is a fkn' jungle. First of all, it is an "island" detached from Miami and there are literally only 2 ways of getting there, McArthur Causeway & Julia Tuttle. This means that the traffic heading into Miami Beach during the holidays is fkn' insane. It's bumper to bumper. The holidays are over crowded, too many drunk tourists doing crazy shite and acting like animals, overpriced drinks, over rated clubs and traffic. Also pray that no drunks will start playing with their guns.

My advice is stay in downtown Miami or Brickell area. There are clubs there, less packed, probably cheaper hotels, cheaper drinks, it has the same amenities that S. Beach has. Another option try going to Miami beach north of 41 St., it is not as crazy.

If you are in Miami go to Playmates. Your friends will thank you. Also raise your budget unless you are planning on going for 2 days max.
