got a friend's bachelor trip in Miami for labor day weekend.

flights from dallas to ft lauderdale are $900 entire round trip (not even counting airbnb and spending costs while we are there - tack on another $350 for airbnb and $300-500 for spending in miami)

same friend has a wedding mobile, AL on october 28-30. the absolute cheapest flight I can find is with american, Dallas to Mobile $580

this is fricking absurd! going to have to miss my very good friends bachelor trip because of this absurdity with the airlines.

rant over. looking forward to the aggies calling me poor lol

flights are 2x expensive as they were last year.
flights that normally cost $2-300 are now $5-600.

but at least we don't have to wear masks now?

Amtrak prices are lower than flights, if you are going somewhere where Amtrak goes.

The high price will keep the flight trash off the planes.

Fly into Fort Lauderdale instead, then drive. They're always much cheaper.

Try other airports in the area. Don't discount the small airports that Allegiant flies into if you're willing to do so.

good time to sign up for a new airline credit card for the bonus miles? That companion pass on SW holds a lot of value too

Not only that, Amtrak doesn't search your belongings, wink, wink.

to be fair - that's not inflation, that's just greed. Beers were 3x cheaper at the masters a month ago
