A lot of babies that were born premature would not survive without formula.
I don't know why FedGov seems to be prioritizing superficial issues over this. It's the FDA's own red tape that's keeping Abbott's Michigan production facility closed.

My daughter was born premature, and she wouldn't be here if not for Similac, which is manufactured by Abbott Laboratories.
This is a big problem, and it's absolutely caused by our friends in Washington DC. The Feds shut the factory down because kids got sick. After it was apparent that kids were not getting sick from the formula, they didn't allow them to restart. They still haven't. That factory is closed, and there's a mountain of red tape preventing it from reopening.

My buddy told me that if you alter your settings on Amazon to Canada there is a ton available. Also, saw a video that shows no shortages in Mexico. Not sure how real both of those things are but horrible if true

This makes me so sad for all the kids and parents. Luckily my child is 4, but he had a dairy allergy as a child and breast feeding just never worked even though we tried.
The formula he used is even out of stock on the Enfamil website. Not sure what I would have done.
