re: Chauna Banks on the EBR Teacher Shortage

A bunch of teachers got reassigned a few days ago... well unassigned. It was newer teachers in cushy jobs like "associate teacher", they put two teachers in the same classroom in low census classes. One with a masters is the the teacher and the one with a undergrad is an associate. The associates were told they were needed in other areas and not as associates for next year and you would have thought the superintendent killed their puppies. Look, I know nobody wants to go from a nice location to a shite location but that is how shite happens in the real world. Education and Government are living in fantasy land playing with peoples money from the real world.

It may have been a great or even reasonable letter but I couldn’t get past that.

Stopped reading. No intelligent person says this, so the words that follow are unimportant.

You may not be able to fire them, but you can stick their entitled asses in the shittiest schools possible

From reading Ms Banks letter it readily becomes apparent that she is nearly illiterate and incapable of writing or speaking grammatically correct English.
Unfortunately that is the case with the majority of our schoolteachers and has been for decades.
School teachers are useless to the extent that we now homeschool our children because we can't afford private school tuition. School choice is the answer but teachers unions will never allow that to happen.

That might be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Wtf??

Several disturbing items here from Ms Banks, but they are not new to the parish.
One ,she is upset that Citizens have the actual gall to protest that their children's teachers are being assigned to other schools.
These proRegressives really get bent out of shape when someone questions their decisions , and for someone to protest just blows their minds.
I taught for 22 years in inner city schools in EBR. When I hired on the only positions open where at the inner city schools, no one wanted to teach in those schools. Trying to get transferred into the Magnet schools twice each year was next to impossible.
The majority of these students in these schools don't care about education and their parents don't either. I Saw it first hand.
Banks is insanely jealous of private and magnet schools. She is upset that some people are more intelligent than her.
I believe that there is a mind set in the parish school administration the schools will magically improve once that all the non-Black teachers and school board members are driven out of the school system. They actually think the non-Black teachers are purposely holding the Black students back.
When I was in high school all my teachers had been there for like 20 years or more. They were good/great teachers and built school spirit and pride. There is no way to generate something like this when there is a revolving door for teachers /principals. This school system is purposely attempting to break morale of the teachers.
Gary Matthews and Clayton Wilcox tried this shite.
Divide and conquer.

Whoever wrote that is illiterate. That’s all I know. Sheesh.

I’m sorry, is Chuana Bank on the school board now? No? Then maybe she should politely STFU!

Changes are good and EBRPSS should move people around from top to bottom every 4-5 years. Familiarity often led to all kinds of preferential treatment, schisms, lack of productivity, and complacency.
If only she followed her own advice and didn’t run for re-election.
She has been on the council since 2013. Guess that 9 years of familiarity, preferential treatment, schisms, lack of productivity, and complacency is okay when it’s dealing with her

I stopped reading at “ON yesterday”

quote:
None of us should be so attached to a building, principal, staff, or student population that it dominates us.
This might be the stupidest fricking thing I ever read. This is like telling a football team "As long as you are getting paid you should win. It doesn't matter how the team is managed, how good of a head coach you have, it doesn't matter if you don't have the best equipment to work out with and train on. It doesn't matter what kind of team we put together you are expected to win".
No you dumb bitch. Environment matters and if you don't have a principal who don't know what they frick they are doing, the teachers have no idea what is expected from them and they are trying to get control of their class, but when they send kids to the principal, nothing happens. They are sent back to my class and we are back to square 1 so if you want to talk about jobs.. All you are is an elected official who gets paid too much considering the fact you get absolutely nothing done and if you think its so easy then come do the job for two weeks to show us how its done.. Bitch.. If I were a teacher and taught at whatever schools she directed her message to, I would get fired because I wouldn't be able to help myself and I would send her an email telling her exactly what I posted above. Maybe that's the problem, people need to push back on these idiots.

These are the people who influence this town (well HH and Kibbles not so much) and the problem is they’re not even as right as a broken clock.

Um, I respectfully disagree with this.

The drawback is I do not invest a lot into forming relationships. I do not participate in extra-curricular activities or volunteer for off-campus events. Gone are the days when I purchased embroidered or printed t-shirts and sweatshirts. In all honesty, I have become detached from my varied school surroundings. I remember a time when I was intentional and “knew by name” my students, parents, and co-workers, none of those traits currently exist.
And she thinks this makes BETTER teachers?
quote:
My mama would say, “There are ONLY two days that matter when a job get tough. She asked, “Do you know what they are?” I would guess, “Saturday and Sunday”! She would respond, “No. The only two days that matter on a job are PAYDAY and OFFDAY!”
Makes sense for so many things in so many ways.
