Ukraine turns off gas to Europe

Probably not a good idea, especially when those countries being denied gas are siding with Ukraine in the war. This may cause some to rethink their allegiances.
RT - Ukraine turns off Europe-bound gas
quote:
Gas Transit Services of Ukraine (OGTSU) declared force majeure on Tuesday, saying that it was impossible to continue the transit of gas through a connection point and compressor station located in the Lugansk area. As OGTSU personnel “cannot carry out operational and technological control” over the Sokhranovka connector point and Novopskov compressor station, the company cannot continue to fulfill its contract obligations, it said.
Gas from this connection will not be accepted into the transit system of Ukraine starting at 7 am on Wednesday, OGTSU said. Sokhrankovka accounts for almost a third of the Russian gas that transits through Ukraine to Europe – up to 32.6 million cubic meters per day – according to the operators.

Forthcoming headline - “Europe cuts off pipeline of guns to Ukraine.”

Russia and Ukraine had more in common than they originally thought

You really have to stop following Russian State Media as a source. The Lugansk area is under Russian control.

They are saying they can’t operate a station in war. I don’t think that’s going to piss anyone off like you all think.
This could be an opportunistic/strategic announcement to get the Europe to commit more to Ukraine.
“Help us win so we can operate that station!”

LONDON, May 10 (Reuters) - Ukraine said on Tuesday it would suspend the flow of gas through a transit point which it said delivers almost a third of the fuel piped from Russia to Europe through Ukraine, blaming Moscow for the move and saying it would move the flows elsewhere.
GTSOU, which operates Ukraine's gas system, said it would suspend flows via the Sokhranivka route from Wednesday, declaring "force majeure", a clause invoked when a business is hit by something beyond its control.
The company said in a statement that it could not operate at the Novopskov gas compressor station due to "the interference of the occupying forces in technical processes", adding that it could temporarily shift the affected flow elsewhere, to the Sudzha physical interconnection point located in territory controlled by Ukraine.
But Gazprom, which has a monopoly on Russian gas exports by pipeline, said it was "technologically impossible" to shift all volumes to the Sudzha interconnection point, as GTSOU proposed.

The Novopskov compressor station in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine has been occupied by Russian forces and separatist fighters since soon after Moscow began what it describes as a "special military operation".

Sounds like a textbook FM event.

Ukraine making a move, trying to cut off Russia’s gas revenue.
Europe talks about it, Ukraine said let me help you out.
This will be interesting.

I wonder if this is strategic or if they actually can't control it? I'm sure it's a bit of both.

Gee. Where's Lugansk? Must be somewhere. What's happening there? who is in control of the territory?

Your own linked article indicates that it isn’t exactly a choice. You seem really dumb.

Ukraine said that it could and would. RT is a propaganda outlet. Russia Today should be a tell to anyone with 1/4 a brain.

The Russians must be targeting Ukrainian contract workers. Thus forcing the Ukrainians to abandon operations of the checkpoint, so they make the Ukrainians look like the irresponsible party involved. When in actuality the Russians yet again are the instigation behind it.
