The Louisiana Department of Transportation has blocked off an exit ramp because of a sinkhole. The sinkhole was reported on the I-10 East exit ramp to Metairie Road. That exit is blocked until further notice.

Well that explains all the DOTD vehicles causing traffic with their lights on.

Probably because the Delgado students can't figure out how to get to class.

It collapsed before 11 pm last night so it made the deadline.

Need a massive sink hole that starts at Causeway Blvd, all the way to the Twin Spans

Generally these events happen when a buried culvert drain gets washed out. A portion of the culvert cracks letting rainwater out which allows the soil on the outside of the culvert to be washed away. This undermines the soil holding up the roadway. Over time it can become like a cavern under the road. I have seen many of these, so many that I have lost count.
My company repairs these things.

Lucky that it happened on the exit lane.
Imagine if it happened on the center travel lane.
We run cameras through the culvert in order to check their status before it gets repaired.
May have to tear out more lanes.

It was probably the drain for NOLA, and in true NOLA fashion they paved over it.
