2023 1st
2024 2nd
2022 3rd
2022 3rd
2022 4th

This guy better be a multiple time all pro.

The haul is not that dissimilar to what the Saints paid for Ricky Williams

I thought we only gave up 16, 98, and 120 in exchange for 11 or something like that..

You have to include what the Saints traded to even get a 2nd First Round pick...to then move up to get Olave

It looks like he's including the compensation for the pick we acquired from PHI.

He is putting in the whole cost into account from the initial trade. Since you could have got Penning at 18 since you got him at 19. The total cost to acquire Olave specifically is how he put it. It includes the acquisition of 16 then move up to 11

I think it is more akin to what Atlanta gave up to get Julio Jones than the Ricky trade.

2011 1st
2011 2nd
2011 4th
2012 1st
2012 4th

its sickening when viewing the compensation from this perspective. I don't have the energy to verify any details of what you put in op.

Yeah but we got Penning also. We only had #18 to begin with and traded away that haul for 2 firsts... I'm saying the whole trade has to be considered and Penning is part of that trade now too.

Olave cost more than this, & Atl jumped even higher in the draft (1.6) & the pick swap that year dropped Cle to 1.26

So we paid a 2024 second, two 2022 thirds and a 2022 4th to move our first round pick from 2023 to 2022 and to move up in the draft to get a WR that the Saints felt matched what they needed. I assume the Saints are expecting to have a pick in the second half of the 2023 draft so you also have to consider that and we also got a 2022 6th round back.

The costs to acquire the 16th pick were already baked in and would have been borne on whomever was drafted there.

Not sure it's fair to put that extra on Olave.

Completely irrelevant

Of course they liked him. It doesn’t make it sensible

It seems like a lot but I’m ok with it. The 2024 2nd stings the most for me.

It was reported that the eagles called us in regards to the initial trade for 16 and 19 since they had 3 picks and was trying to push some of there cost (picks) to another year. Feel like we should have been able to negotiate a little better price tag but I wasn’t in the room.

All of the 2022 picks are at the end of the rounds in the compensatory slots. Not really traditional 3rd rounders.

I also don't understand why the 1st matter as it was essentially swaps with the other teams getting the later round picks.

Then we have to include another 1st in the cost, right?

Still not an entire draft plus. Again, here's the compensation Ditka gave up for one player:

1999 1st
1999 3rd
1999 4th
1999 5th
1999 6th
1999 7th
2000 1st
2000 3rd

The Ricky Williams trade has only one comparison, that being the Hershel Walker trade.

Regarding Olave, yes it may be costly when you consider both moves to get him, but it's not as damaging as Ricky's trade was. And I'm agreement that losing our first next year sucks, but it could have been a lot worse.

It's still capital.
