Probably with your friend who sent his kid to HC....right? Generally everyone was having a good time and no one was getting crazy.....except for that game in 84 or 85 when the teams started fighting after that interception late in the game.

I’m not quite as old as you are, but as a student and young alumni we would definitely tailgate

I have heard lots of stories about the tear gas incident though…

All I remember was that Chalmette had beat us the year before....which was rare and they were driving late in the game and the DB stepped in front of the receiver and picked it off and got run out into the Chalmette bench. The everything went crazy on the sideline. I was on the HC sideline and was getting ready to run and join....then I looked and Bro. Matthew was standing right in front and stared a good bit of us down.

I had respect for all the brothers, but on a football level if Bro.Matthew told me something I listened. He had been a linebacker at Georgia Tech, so he had football cred. He was in real good shape as well for a guy in his 50's

I am a former coach/AD at a private catholic school. I can promise you there is alcohol consumed in the parking lots, ice chests, and yeti cups all across the venue.

Hell, I've stood on the sidelines watching a game with a yeti cup full of beer many times

i can confirm

Not talking about tear gas. I'm talking about the fight at the end in 84, I believe ( could be 83) Tear gas in the 70's was legend though.

If not I can assure you he is sitting on a bucket somewhere.

In high school? Are you serious? That would be immediate termination at the high school I went to and parents drinking openly would have been a major issue as well. I'm not even sure it was allowed.

God forbid a parent have a couple of beers after work before watching his son play a baseball game. The horror. Going to a private Catholic school sounds like hell.

It wasn’t just alcohol and a fight. There was racial slurs directed at an opposing player and his mom. Also, taunts towards a different opposing players mom. Andy allegedly laughed at it all and did nothing to stop it it or cool it off. I’m sure the HC leadership was embarrassed.

Since when is alcohol and people under the influence generally accepted at a high school game?

You serious clark?

I don't think i've been to one of my kids games at a catholic elementary/middle school that didn't have alcohol being consumed, whether that was on campus or not, and i'm 100% sure that isn't going to change when they get to high school.
Difference is we don't drink like Frank the Tank and act like asses, which is why the AD and principals turn the other way and allow it to happen, b/c they are likely partaking in it as well

Why is the baseball coach responsible for the conduct of the adult parents in the stands?

It’s literally LHSAA rule 3.1.6 in the handbook. “No alcoholic beverages shall be sold or consumed at any LHSAA athletic event”

Now yeah I’m sure they’ve been snuck in.

It's literally a rule at just about every facility kids play sports at, but that doesn't stop anyone. It's just stops them from selling it.

This is Louisiana. It's impossible to be in a social environment without alcohol.

is the conduct in the stands a direct result from alcohol being consumed at a prior party hosted by the head baseball coach???
