is the conduct in the stands a direct result from alcohol being consumed at a prior party hosted by the head baseball coach???

If the coach hosted a party for adults where alcohol was served, is it on the coach to ensure that the parents don't over serve themselves and later misbehave in the stands? It shouldn't be. I don't know if that was the reason he was let go or not, but if it was the reason, it's a pretextual reason.

Found out a little more from an HC friend.

Reportedly failed to discipline players after they taunted an opposing player.

Backlog of sanctions from LHSAA.

There was racial slurs directed at an opposing player and his mom. Also, taunts towards a different opposing players mom.

It's probably a bad idea for the HC to officially host a parent party with alcohol.

Especially when you have a losing season and the admin may be looking for a reason to get rid of you.

Sounds like maybe it wasn't any one thing per se but a guy looking to clean house and looking for any reason to do so.

Maybe, but everyone should have expected that. Those kids were little and the Catholic League is tough. They had some of the little league World Series champions

If consuming liquor at catholic league games is wrong I don't want to be right

Additionally with the new Louisiana NIL rules watch out for my boy Paxxon's branded moonshine we'll be selling it at every game. Player empowerment boys

He supposedly got hit for some illegal recruiting. He had been hanging around a lot the parks where the travel teams play 9 games in 3 days. Rumor is he was setting up lessons at these baseball academies to try and steer kids to HC.

So between that, illegal practices early in the season (hence he got suspended for the first six games), and violating the rule on alcohol, that’s damn near lack of institutional control…

For what tgrbaitin08 said he was being paid, he had to know better

I know he coaches one of his kids teams, so being at the park in a coaching capacity in itself is not out of line. Probably more to the story- as there always seems to be with AC.

THat in itself is not illegal ....

but HC could still face discipline from LSHAA especially if parents were allowed to drink inside the stadium area.

bottom line.... don't let parents choose a coach

As an alumnus of HC I was curious about the whole thing so I spoke with a board member.

The bottom line is that Gallagher took a look around and came to the conclusion that HC was underperforming across all areas of operation . Academics,Athletics and Alumni outreach and he decided to put everyone on notice. Canizaro was low hanging fruit and Gallagher told him that stupidity would not be tolerated.

Supossedly he also told Salt that with his reputation that he expects a district championship within 2 years. Salt got a pass because overall he had a team that was heavy sophomore and junior players. But he said he was not putting up with any more "shite"

On the Alumni Outreach end. He jumped the shite out of the Head of the Alumni Office. He said he wanted Alumni checks instead of receipts from the Director for lunches , etc.

Gallagher was brought in to kick arse and take names.

Salt could have a badass team there and they won’t win simply due to there being 6 better programs in their district. They better be happy with beating us and winning state in soccer

Since when is alcohol and people under the influence generally accepted at a high school game?

The LHSAA may even have rules against alcohol at any school venue, in addition to the laws banning alcohol and tobacco from public school campuses

EDIT- 3.1.6 in the LHSAA handbook

Hell, I know the sell beer at some quarterback club meetings.

Apparently the word out is that Salt was told at the end of the season to go figure out what Rummel was doing and copy it and start peeling off Bro. Martin's Gentilly and 7th ward pipeline.

We can't count on St Bernard anymore. And all the West Bank kids that used to go are either in Hahnville or across the lake in Madisonville and Covington
