From bad to worse...

Hard to imagine and prepare for something like this, but the once in a lifetime event scamdemic was our warm-up exercise. Is there a need to stock up on durable goods, tools, clothes, appliances, etc.? What about consumables like energy/fuel, home products, food, and water?

ZeroHedge

Why is China enacting Orwellian lockdowns when the rest of the planet is loosening restrictions?

quote:

The extended Shanghai lockdown is morphing into a logistics disaster as trucks trickle into the city, leaving empty containers piling up at the world's largest port.

quote:

The coming volume drop in ocean container volumes (TEUs) leaving China for US ports is staggering. Our Ocean TEU Volume Index in SONAR now has a 14-day forward look at volumes, and it looks ugly. By early May 2022, we could see the lowest levels we’ve seen since May of 2020.

quote:

Is the slowdown in Shanghai at all welcome? That's the big question.
To the extent US merchants have ordered too much inventory in the face of falling demand, perhaps.
But Fuller notes there are just too many questions. For starters, what is China doing? Every other country on the planet is loosening restrictions.

At what point is it a good idea to begin disentangling our economy from China's? Now? A decade ago?

Well, maybe we can clear the backlog at our ports.

The Left in our Nation desires to be the arbiter of all basic goods and services and are crashing the status quo (Capitalist) System in order to "fundamentally change" it. The Right knows this, but also realizes that Systematic channels of addressing this are fruitless, as the System IS corrupt in service to "fundamental transformation". So, stock up and and strap in. Things are going to change pretty quick, even if the Right takes over Congress. Sooner or later the corrupt 'Deep State' will have to be confronted. Jan. 6 was a 'happy hour' compared to what will come, given unbridled immigration. From 'sea to shining sea'. No way any 'government' can handle that. This 'computer' will likely be one of the first 'casualties'.

Good luck to the Board Brethren.

China is about to have some massive starvation go on there. I've read that farmers get arrested for covid violations for being in their tractors alone. That's in addition to truckers dumping food to avoid going into cities and being locked down in their trucks.

Should have happened under Obama. Started happening under Trump. Though Biden has been quiet about it, decoupling has continued the last year.

We should leave some production there, but should cut it in half. Spread that half around other places in asia. Latin america and mexico if possible, and a small part of it bring back here.

China has done to the US what Apple did to the average consumer.

Started with PCs, then iPods, then phones. Now, add in the cloud and the fact it all works in an ecosystem that is completely fricked if you step outside the ecosystem. I’d maybe buy and android, but I won’t even look at them now that I’ve got years of pictures, settings, notes, etc. that will all evaporate without some serious effort to migrate it off.

China has done that same thing to the US. We are so intertwined with them that removal would be just short of cutting out our own heart. It’s almost impossible, but it’s the only way to reduce their influence on the world.

Friend of mine is about to move into a new house without an oven. May be this winter before it comes in. Welcome to 2022 in America!

China's economy is not in good enough shape to withstand this. This will wreck them worse than it does us.

I really hope corporate boardrooms see this as a wake up call and start investing in non-commie manufacturing. Gonna hurt in the meantime though

Since we are on some random internet forum, I'll let you all know what's happening.

Our supply issues will get really bad, but it will be intentional. The purpose is to reset to our "new normal" prices.

It's difficult to, for example, put a 40k msrp vehicle next to an identical 48k msrp vehicle, so you need to hold back on shipping out the new supply while getting rid of the old.

If you "empty the shelves," you can roll everything out with the new, higher prices, without shocking the consumer too bad.

You answered your own question.

In a sane world, our political leaders would have looked at the shortages due to shipping from China during COVID and began working on economic plans to spur manufacturing growth here. Instead, they bemoaned the death of a violent, drug-addicted felon and cried about mean tweets.

Serves us right for depending on that shithole.

And of course out Potato in Chief does nothing to combat this.

Things that make you go hmmm…
Is China behind the cyber attacks (fire, explosions)on food processing facilities?
Is China behind an ongoing effort to basically cut off goods/shipping to the USA?
Is China undertaking measures to weaken the USA for possible physical take over?
