"White Flight"?

I remember learning about this phenomenon in a sociology (required gen ed) class. It was framed as something white people did to black and minority people.
If white people are bad, wouldn't the oppressors leaving be a good thing to the oppressed community?

They should change it to "smart flight". Smart, non-criminal black people would leave a neighborhood that has become crime ridden. It's an effect of the crime the tends to follow when a certain demographic moves into a neighborhood. At some point, the disease needs to be treated instead of treating the symptoms.

It clearly has absolutely nothing to do with color but 100% with people fleeing raising crime areas and degrading neighborhoods!

“White flight” is supposedly bad because the inner cities are broken and white people leaving deprives them of money.
The left’s wants are effectively BR as it exists… shitty government and services to black people off the backs of white people who live in the rest of the parish and calling them racist for complaining about it.
This model is going to crash horribly if/when the St George case is decided.
The city being incorporated fricks BR’a budget.
It not being incorporated would be a death blow to the parish IMHO because it would signal there is no point to staying and that you should move to another parish or state if possible.

Birmingham, AL and its surrounding suburbs are the perfect case study for 'white flight'. Compare any metric you'd like between the City of Birmingham and the over the mountain suburbs. I'd argue that the suburbs are better by every measure.

Welfare state is largely responsible for much of the damage done to the black community since it was implemented. It's been bad for every race but hit blacks the hardest.
The current culture of inner city blacks isn't helping either. Thomas Sowell has a great documentary on Youtube about the origins of it. He proposes that it is derived from southern cracker culture and provides loads of evidence to support it. It's about two hours but worth the watch. Interesting stuff.

The problem with "white flight" is successful Black people flee the crime-infested ghetto just as fast.

my neighborhood is going through a revitalization period. there's 5 houses being remodeled right now.
my block tends to be overlooked on property value hikes but i think a bunch of people that rent are about to be in a world of hurt.

I am also confused by this. If white flight is bad and racist but staying in said neighborhood is also racist then what are white people supposed to do?

It use to be whites left the cities and moved to the suburbs to escape crime etc.
Now you are seeing white flight on a different scale as people leave the entire state of Louisiana.
