Have one scheduled this week due to some recent heart issues. Just kind of wondering what to expect.

I went in, went to sleep, they came in and woke me up cause I was snoring and to try the least invasive mask. When I woke up at 7am I thought they forgot about me. But it was just that I stopped snoring completely with the under nose mask.

I'm going to have to do one here shortly in order to get a CPAP. Interested to hear about experiences as well.

I did one for apnea. You’ll get a little recorder box and a breathing tube or mask to wear overnight. Since it’s heart related they may give you some electrodes to wear for a day or so too. It’s not too intrusive

They’re very strict about their no masturbation policy

Mine was at home. Monitor strapped around your chest, monitor on your finger, monitor on your nose. Uncomfortable, but you eventually fall asleep.
Got a cpap. Sleep like a champ now.

Me, years ago. Was pretty dreadful trying to sleep with all that stuff attached to you.

I did an at-home study, had a big apnea problem. All better now, wish I had done it a lot sooner

I have to go to a clinic for this one. Not overly worried about it.... just seems a little weird.

Did they put you on a CPAP?

I just did one about a month ago here. I did the take home test equipment so I could sleep in my bed. Pretty simple. You put a thing on your face and attach sensors to your chest and on your finger while you sleep. That was mine anyway. You go by and pick it up at the clinic, they show you how to put everything on, you go home and hook it all up to you at bedtime, wake up and drop it off in their dropbox. Get the results a day or two later.
Very similar to this:
I had a sneaking idea that I had apnea issues and finally did the study after years of wondering.
My results came back and showed within about a 6 hour period I had 291 apnea events (about 50 per hour). So I was a considered a severe case. My nasal passage and sinuses get narrow and blocked real easy.
Had a couple of weeks delay on getting my CPAP because of the shortage crap. I luckily got placed at the top of the list since my case was severe.
Fortunately it only took me a few days to get used to wearing my CPAP. The first night was very tough. May have slept 2 hours all together. It wasn't the mask, it was the way it makes you breathe. The second night was much much easier. The mask didn't feel nearly as foreign on me and the breathing was easier. I can say I feel I have more clarity and my brain just works a bit better since doing this. I do feel better.
I still like waking up an hour or so earlier than I have to and take off the mask so I can roll around and sink my face into the pillow. I miss the freedom of tossing and turning.
If you're interested in cost... I have BCBS of NC and I will end up paying about $650 out of pocket for my CPAP machine, not including all the specialists copays.
Seems people are in one of two camps when it comes to CPAP. Some say it's life changing, just like in this thread... while others say they don't feel all that different but say they notice how crappy they sleep when they don't use it. So it seems like they really do work 100% of the time.

Was a lifesaver for me. My sleep was very poor quality, was nodding off in meetings, etc.
Got the study done, put on a CPAP, sleep quality is great now.

I heard that pee can cause the electrodes to malfunction.

I did a take-home sleep test to find out I have sleep apnea. Didn't sleep worth a shite, but enough to determine I do have sleep apnea. Got a CPAP, and it's been nothing short of life changing for me. I won't sleep without it now.

I did the at home version. I did not sleep well that night and knew the results would end up with needing a cpap machine. Went yesterday to discuss results thinking I would go with a machine... nope a waste of time, I have to wait for them to schedule another appointment for that.
Interested in your heart condition if you dont mind me asking. The reason I ended up doing the test was for one as well. Not sure if its connected or not, but had covid in January, in February I woke up feeling my heart beating very fast. put on a heart rate monitor and collected a hour of 140-160 BBP while laying in bed. Went to the urgent care and they did a EKG. Urgent care told me to go to the ER and was told I was in AFib. Stayed in it all night until they cardioverted me back into normal rhythm. Have not been back into AFib since and no longer taking daily medication.

My wife wants me to get one done

Now that COVID is over it's back to the old way
You'll sit in a room with 3-4 people watching your every move and taunting you to go to sleep and openly talking about what to do with you if you die during the study

My first sleep study was this past December, and it was at a clinic. I have no problems falling asleep but for some reason I couldn’t fall asleep during the study. I was there until 5:30am and they told me to go home at that point.
My doc ordered another sleep study and prescribed me an ambien. I knocked out during that sleep study. Results came back and I now have a CPAP. No more snoring so now I don’t have to worry about my wife killing me in my sleep.
I’ve only had the CPAP a few weeks but I feel like I sleep so much better now. It did take me about 5 days to sleep comfortably with a mask, and I settled on the whisp. It’s a nasal mask and it’s pretty dang comfortable (nothing going up your nose like some of the nasal pillows).
