Have a generic one but would like purchase something a little more comfortable this year (not the auto inflate ones).

Anyone use a float coat other than the mustang coat?

I just use the one that came with the boat, it's a Mustang 100 Accel. So long as it fits and is comfortable enough I'm good with whatever I have

Stearns MOB Navy surplus belt pack. Very comfortable and out of the way. It is not auto inflate. You "pull the yellow chord" to activate the CO2. Many of my friends have also purchased these on Ebay.

I use the AM 24 auto manual... but not really. I carry it! I just have cheapies for compliance, but good cheapies. My kids get whatever fits them best, I actually make sure they have a good fitting vest.

A kayak paddling vest. We have 4 or 5 of them because we paddle and fish. Something similar to this.

NRS fishing vests

Same, and I have no idea if they are comfortable. I think I know what compartment they are in.

I have a mustang bomber style float coat for fishing and i also have a longer camo jacket style that i use hunting sometimes. I like both. As far as a life jacket i have an automatic inflatable mustang that is comfortable. Never had to use it and want to keep it that way. I am wearing a life jacket now when i fish alone .... should have done it yrs ago

I use an auto inflate. When I get out my truck to launch I put it on and don't take it off till I have the boat on the trailer. They very comfortable. I buy them the day after Thankgiving from West Marine when they under $80 each.

I know of 2 people who fell at the boat ramp and died from hitting there and drowning, I'd like to be above water if I'm knocked out.

If you have an auto inflate it only counts if you wearing it.

I have 4 Liquid Force life jackets that we use on my jet skis and when wake boarding.

On my fishing boat, I have the bare minimum to be legal and don't wear one. I also fish by myself 50% of the time.

Know what brand the camo float coat is? I like the auto inflate it’s just hard to get compressed air here and I have seen these inflate in the rain or continual spray from waves. I’m not a fan of the self inflate because it’s useless if you are unconscious.

Love the NRS life jackets, but was looking to buy 3 so wanted something cheaper. Have some free time this afternoon between meetings and will post what I find.

Pretty unforgivable area here with the cold water, weather, unmarked water hazards, and no radar for storm detection. My life jacket and Inreach stay on me.

Mustang (and others) make 2 kinds of auto-inflate. One activates when small chemical pellet dissolves. Sounds like what you're referring to.

The other is hydrostatic (referred to as "HIT" model). When life jacket gets a few inches below the water surface, it inflates. This is what I wear, and like Chedballz, I put it one before I step in the boat in the morning and take it off when I have pulled the trailer out at the end of the day.

The people talking about float coats must live waaay up north. It's fixing to get hot down here. The Mustang PFDs are quite comfortable.

I view PFDs the same way I view kill switches. Everybody should use them all the time.

Edited to correct my auto-corrected incorrect spelling.

Like Harlan my father and I use paddling vest as well.

They have an array of pockets some fishing vest have padded or shell front pockets that protect your gear.
I usually shop sales as they can be a little expensive.

I personally hate these.

No good to you if unconscious and then you have to remind folks if something happens make sure everyone is conscious and floating.

Mustang auto inflate are what I have.

When I go to bigger water I wear a mustang survival pfd. I want to know we will be floating. I usually only wear it on sloppy days.

Does anyone know of any incidents where someone had to use an auto-inflate and it actually saved them? I wear one but I still worry that they'll be some complication when I actually need it.
