The Masters at Augusta National or The Open Championship at The Old Course at St. Andrews

As golfers and golf fans, if you had the choice for an all-inclusive visit to either The Masters or The Open Championship at the Old Course, St. Andrews, the birthplace of golf, which would you choose and why? I have a feeling I know what most will pick, but I'm just curious to gather your responses.

That’s a really tough question. The two most iconic courses of all time. I’d imagine most euros would choose the open and most Americans the masters
I am leaning towards the open since the masters is always played at Augusta so plenty more opportunities to go

The Masters.
You can walk up to the Old Course any day of the week.

Easy for me. The Masters.

I'd contemplate the decision for literally 0.5sec then choose AN. Maybe not even that long.

I’ve been to several days of the Masters.
It is amazing.
I line near Augusta.
If someone else is paying, let’s fly to the UK and see The Old Course at St. Andrews.

The Masters. I have been once and it was the best event I have ever been to in my life.
I'd love to go to the Old Course one day... to play it. I don't have to go to the Open.

Went to the Dunhill at St Andrew's. Beautiful, oozes history, and was cold as a well diggers arse.
I'm not sacrificing a body part to afford just one round at The Masters.

I’ve been lucky enough to do both. The feeling you get knowing you’re standing at birthplace of golf is something that can’t be replicated. Also, the main beer sponsor was Stella Artois and that’s my favorite beer so that was also great. The British Open at the Old Course for me

I’ve been to St Andrews and could go again. Augusta isn’t open to the public and would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. All you need to go to St. Andrews is a flight and some cash for a ticket

If with buddies, Augusta and it isn’t close. If my wife had to go, St Andrews. I don’t see her being occupied in Augusta.

Played both and attended The Masters, so it would have to be The Open at The Old Course for me.

St Andrews...my forefathers are from Scotland...
as an American...Augusta...

The Masters. No contest.

Nerd Alert Time. You cannot play The Masters. That’s an invite only tournament. You can play Augusta National. That’s a golf course.
Any who. I figure most people here are saying Augusta National simply because of the exclusivity. And yes I’d pick Augusta national too.

I have a friend that is there now. Said the same thing. Said it's absolutely the best sporting event he's ever experienced. He works for the Astros and has been inside the ropes for world series, been to the super bowl, a number of other events. This is his first time at the masters and he's been blown away.

The question was not about playing Augusta National. It was “if you had the choice for an all-inclusive visit to either The Masters or The Open Championship at the Old Course, St. Andrews”.
So, yes. It is The Masters (tournament).

If the question is whether you only get the chance to go to 1, and you never have the chance to go to the other, I pick the Masters. I've been to both -- the Masters is best in show. And that is not to take away from how incredible St Andrews is.

I have been o both and the ANGC is vastly superior.

I'm an Open Championship kind of guy. Love the link style golf courses, especially St Andrews. Any other year I'm choosing Masters.
