I have watched the Wade haters and lovers on this site -wow, we have some real brain children posting here!

Here are the facts:

1) Wade cheated and did so very foolishly and got caught. He desrves what he got. He should have been fired when the story first broke.

2) The University had NO CHOICE but to fire him immediately once the NOV was official. Anyone who says different is clueless.

3) Wade was a great recruiter and an average-to-below average coach. You need to be both to win NCAA championships - and since the SEC is getting better all the time, the same is true of SEC Championships.

4) No one knows if Wade could have taken the program to higher level. He could mature as an on-court coach or hire great assistants to work Xs and Os and develop talent.

5) What is clear is that he elevated the program higher than it has been in a long time - maybe ever - and was very much on the rise. His current class of recruits was going to be really good. - So while we cannot know if he would eventually bring championships, we can say with some clarity that he was still going up.

6) Despite all that, Will Wade is THE person responsible for ruining LSU basketball for many years to come. See #1 and #2 above. I don't condone chaeating, but I am not so naive to think that it's not the reality in many NCAA sports - especially basketball. I am amazed that he would be stupid enough to say things ON THE CELL PHONE that he said.

7) Wade will coach again once the heat dies down and will probably be a very successful coach. He recruits well and relates to kids well. He will learn lessons about being smarter on and off the court. Meanshile LSU basketball will struggle for a while.

So quit building him up to be great and god-like coach and quit denying that he brought a level of success to LSU basketball that we have been missing. He was good and the program was rising. But bottom line, his misconduct ruined LSU basketball. And for that I cannot forgive him and don't want him ever be associated with LSU again. I place zero blame on the AD and the LSU leadership. This is on Wade - period.

Both sides of this debate need to move on and support LSU basketball - lord knows we're gonna need it in the next few years.

Welcome to the world of today. We aren't allowed to be in the middle of any debate. You either love something or hate... you are not allowed to have a balanced viewpoint on anything.

Unfortunatly that was his only option. big money boosters didn't give a shite about the program.

Kansas has not fired their head coach charged with the same amount of violations

statitstics and results say otherwise

It's safe, and fair, to assume that Will Wade did not expect the FBI to be monitering teh calls of the recipient of the call

agreed. I'm as big of a wade guy as there is, but we have a good coach coming in that can hopefully lay down a solid foundation and continue the success and growth of the Program that Wade had to build from scratch.

I don't know that that is true. I think he was the guy we needed at the time. Meaning we needed a fiery A hole to breathe lif into the program. I love the McMahon hire but don't think he is the same type of Ra Ra guy that Wade was.

On the other hand, McMahon is who we need now. To steal a phrase from football, we needed an adult in the room. McMahon may not get as many 5 stars as Wade but he will still have success and thanks to Wade, he is getting a fan base that is primed.

You are correct Buda.

All of these things can, in fact, be true at the same time.

Wade cheated. And was DUMB the way he went about it.

Wade was who we needed at the time.

Wade brought the fanbase back and made us relevant again in MBB.

Wade brought in some REALLY good players.

Wade was a mediocre in-game coach.

Wade and his departure/ violations appear to have hurt us for a the short term future.

McMahon is who we need now. Mature. Calculated. Trustworthy.

This is said often on here, but is never followed with any explanation as to HOW he was a "below average coach." Can anyone actually explain their position? Or is this just continuous repeating of the same tired mantra?

Both sides are wrong....yet all you did was crap on the people that like Wade. It's almost like you only think one side is wrong.

Doubtful. The NOA and resulting sanctions were inevitable with Wade. I doubt his recruiting class would have held together and about half the team was leaving anyway.

You lost me here. One SEC Championship and two tourney wins. He was no where close to ‘80 to 91 -ish.

You just repeated everything that has been discussed on here for the last several weeks. People have chosen sides on the issue and there are legitimate positions on both sides.

I’m going to edit to add one thing. I firmly believe that Scott Woodward fired Wade due to a personal conflict between he and Wade rather than because he is some angel who wanted to do the “right thing.”

As has been noted before, the NCAA lacks subpoena power to compel cooperation by witnesses to give testimony, or to produce documents, mobile phones, etc. Wade, according to reports, withheld evidence from NCAA investigators for a substantial length of time. What if LSU kept Wade on as a measure of cooperation with the NCAA, since the University could compel Wade to produce the evidence needed by the NCAA, as a condition of his continued employment? If that were negotiated between the University and the NCAA, hopefully the University's cooperation will have a positive impact on the eventual sanctions.
