Board Leftists: What is the reasoning behind continuing to wear masks at this point?

Was watching Saturday Night Live yesterday. (I haven’t watched in years and just wanted to peak at its current state of affairs.)
The entire SNL house band were wearing masks except for the saxophonist. Next, Adele walked on stage maskless. Then, the audience and some crew were featured, all masked. Then, the first skit began, where 5 actors were seated closely at a small table, all unmasked.
This is similar to a concert I’m planning to attend soon. During the pre-show VIP experience, the band conducts a Q&A on stage and away from the audience and masked up, with a barrier set up in between. Then, they come to ground level for a group photo op, where audience members are herded together 10-strong for a maskless photo op.
The masking philosophy seems all over the place and not especially designed for “safety.” Being honest, with Covid cases disappearing and mask mandates expiring worldwise, is this more about being fashionable and/or making a statement at this point? Is the idea to see how much society’s “elites”can get away with while enforcing rules on “commoners”?

Went to the movies last night. Saw quite a few minorities wearing masks and they all had their nose sticking out of the mask. That’s like walking around in only underwear and letting your dick hang out the side.

They're called Branch Covidians and it's cult level stuff now

Conditioning. You can't change their minds once they have heard something. You cannot give enough 'evidence' to make them stop wearing a mask.
They wanted to fear people into doing it and now they think those afraid will just stop. What is the latest term for mass conditioning?

To pledge allegiance to the party that’s destroying the country right now

The randomness you point out shows it’s nothing more than a virtue signaling tool.

The mask was always only partially about covid control. It was mostly about crowd control.

In my neighbhood, I go about it 2 ways
If I'm outside and alone and see them driving by with a mask on, I stop and look at them and just shake my head
If my wife is outside with me working in the yard, I'll get her attention, then point at the car and then either chuckle or shake my head
I much prefer when she is outside with me so the driver notices that I notices that their a fricking weirdo

It’s almost exclusively blacks still wearing masks. I hardly ever see a Hispanic with a mask on.

They're addicted to the fear.

LSU mens basketball games virtually no masks in arena. LSU womens game the very next day, cheerleaders, training staff, scorers rable even refs masked up. I watched womens game yesterday, the same guy at scorers table that was maskless at every mens game this yr, was masked.
Reminds me of watching my HS football team last yr. No masks on field where players are inches from each other, spitting and tackling, but trams werent allowed to shake hands after the game.
Its crazy. Unexplainable.

Board Leftists
You are more likely to hit the powerball than to have one of the reisdent snarky, leftists that lurk around here, come in and give some sort of explanation. They know this is their people enforcing all this shite and continue to go along with it.
They probably feel a sense of embarrassment and shame that this sort of bizzaro witchcraft level nonsense is the direct result of Democrat and leftist policies and education. And above all, they are all cowards. They have nothing meaningful to offer, if they see a nice easy red meat target like the Pillow Guy, they will be in here like a pack of rabid hyenas. But if you ask them to confront their own beliefs, they slither into their little dark holes.
The masks are no different than any of their other pseudo-dogmatic practices like driving an electric vehicle or putting up a Ukraine flag in their social media bio.

How much virtue could a virtue signal if a virtue signal don’t signal?

I was in Costco yesterday and saw multiple people walking around with masks on under their chin. It blew my mind.
That one really baffled me.

It's at the point now that 90% of the people I see still wearing masks are black females over 40 and black males over 60.

For all I care, they can continue wearing masks for the rest of their lives. Just stop forcing everyone to do so because that’s fricking bullshite.

Sorry you wasted precious time watching those parroting brain-dead idiots. SNL has not been funny for 25 years plus.
You will probably get more response from the soy-boys & Karen's on the OT board.
With that being said, masks are pretty much useless. The masks you see surgeons/nurses... wearing are vastly different from the ones you see the average person on the street wearing.
Even those masks are good for only about 2 hours at the most. After that, those masks are so full of germs, bacteria and yes, even virus' they do more harm than they do 'good'.
Supposedly, the ccp/dnc/fauxi virus is about .125 of a micron.
Take one strand of human hair and make it about 3 inches in diameter. A micron would be about the size of the very tip of an ink pen super-imposed on that 3 inch diameter of one strand of human hair.
A N95 mask is reportedly able to filter out airborne contaminates down to .3 and that is only for a short time.
And the ccp/dnc/fauxi virus is about .125 of a micron.
As one virologist noted, wearing a mask is like putting a screen door on a submarine.
