The simple answer is that you were watching an SNL replay from back in like November when NYC still had mask mandates everywhere. About a month after this episode they had to cancel their Christmas show bc they all tested positive.

Farmers market in downtown Nashville with folks from all walks of life. No mask in sight. This local good ole boy has some green haired kin helping out with BBQ business.

I turned it on as the introduction was ebbing and Adele walked out, and I watched intermittently through half of the embarrassingly unfunny first sketch. There was nothing to otherwise indicate when the episode of the otherwise live show occurred (as mentioned, I haven’t kept up with it in years).
I also provided a second anecdote from a music tour happening now, which makes the same point.
