What is the difference between Putin/Ukraine and Bush/Iraq?

This question has yet to be answered in a satisfactory manner. Actually, the media has done their best to play it down and not answer it at all.
Putin invaded Ukraine to protect his country's borders from an encroaching NATO. He used killing Nazis as an excuse but that was just a cover. War is ongoing but several thousand have died so far.
Bush invaded Iraq cause of oil and his Daddy issues. He used Weapons of Mass Destructions and AL Qaeda as excuses. After an exhaustive search, no WMDs were ever found. Also, it was determined that there was never any link between Saddam and Bin Laden. The Iraq war cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Some estimates have the death toll over a million when factoring the insurgency and other violence.
Bush never faced justice for this war crime. He was heavily criticized domestically until the 2008 election. After Obama won, the media started portraying Bush as misunderstood. Today he is looked at as a kindly grandfather figure who opposed the evil Trump.
Meanwhile, Putin is being portrayed as the new Hitler by the world media. Even though the scale of death and destruction in Ukraine does not even approach what the kindly grandfather did in Iraq. Even if the war rages on for years I do not see it approaching Iraq levels of casualties.
So, why does Bush get a pass while Putin is crucified?
Which country had a better rationale for invading another sovereign nation?

Ukraine isn’t ruled by Sadam.

Bush was smart enough to fabricate enough stuff to garner the international support he needed and Putin wasn’t.

We know with 100% certainty that Bush is a POS war criminal... Putin's "war criminal" status has not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Marketing, that is the difference, and at this time about 200,000-500,000 deaths.

Iraq’s Ba'ath Party seized political control because of a CIA sponsored coup. Saddam, an exceptionally gifted and ruthless strongman, soon rose to prominence in the party. The rest, as they say, is history:

He may’ve been justified in doing something, but I’m not so sure about this exact approach. Honestly I guess I’m still in shock he even did it. I think we all are because we should all be quite a bit more offended by the actions. What would Reagan have thought of it?

Bush had UN Security Council Resolution 678 authorizing military force against Iraq. Bush' actions may have been unwise but they were 100% legal. There is no argument otherwise.

I’m not here to defend the invasion of Iraq.
1. Sadaam had invaded Kuwait in the past. He also mass murderer his own people. To my knowledge Ukrainians have not invaded anyone and haven’t mass murdered their own people. Sadaam reaped what he had sown for years though it may not have been worth it.
2. Our goal, possibly misguided, was remove the leadership then get the heck out of there. Putin’s intention is to dominate Ukraine forever.

the difference is Putin has a legit objective,Bush`s goal was to remove Sadam from power ,plunder his gold, because he refused to join the banking cartel and sell oil for other than the dollar doing so with the excuse of him having WMD`s
