Because they are in on it as well.

money talks and BS walks and even the most moral people can be corrupted for the right price.

Minus the neocons on Russia I think they are remaining quiet because speaking out may slow the momentum coming the GOP's way simply due to the incompetence in the White House. The old saying, "never stop your enemy from destroying themselves" or something like that.

They're afraid if they poke their head up, Trump will bring the hammer down.

And yet Trump isn't exactly providing leadership himself.

And yet he's still injecting himself into political races through endorsements - which I don't really have a problem with. It's just that he doesn't seem to have much of a message or agenda, and comes off as a political neophyte (at best).

They're trying to wait until after the primary to make make themselves targets.

Controlled opposition.

I really noticed it after 1994.

GOP had been the "loyal opposition" for so long, they got comfortable. They had control of the Senate for a short time under Reagan, but NEVER had the House.

In other words, they NEVER had to govern. They could beat their chests and go on the Sunday talk shows (and Firing Line, McLaughlin Group, etc.) and talk a good game about how the Dems were screwing up and it would be different if they were in charge.

Of course in 1994, they were in charge and had to deliver and they hated it. Since Reagan was gone (and Bush 1), the media turned their guns on them (whereas they were basically left alone and occasionally patted on the head like good dogs) and they wilted.

Since then, they have relished being in the minority (because they could again fundraise and make empty statements while lamenting what the Dems were doing). When they were given control, they were weak and apologetic, limiting themselves to tax policy and defense spending and letting the Dems control everything else.

The reason they hate Trump is because he called them on their bullshite and forced them to act. They got just as much delight out of McCain's decrepit and evil thumbs down on Obamacare as the Dems because they didn't want to have to come up with an alternative (letting it go back to pre-Obamacare was not an option - even through that's exactly what they should have done).

They are gutless cowards who only "lead" when forced, or when it's low hanging fruit with little actual policy implication.

Do you want the truth? If so...

For starters we can start running candidates who can actually articulate their messages and who don't constantly step on their own dick and fall into media trap after media trap. It'd also help by backing candidates who don't alienate suburban voters who historically vote Republican. Particularly the soccer moms.

And maybe, just maybe, not keep running/backing candidates who are old as frick? Grassley (88), Inhofe (87), McConnell (80), Trump (will be 78 in '24), Risch (78), Romney (will be 77 in '24).

Biden is proof of why there should be an age limit for every office (President, Senator, HOR, etc.). Ideally no one over 75.

The popular Democratic talking point is that Republican voters are all dying off and Republicans can never win another election. That is a MYTH and another example of fake news. I've spent the last year+ looking over the data from every county and precinct from 2016 and 2020. In both elections there were over 5 million voters who voted for at least 1 down-ballot Republican but didn't at the top of the ticket.

It'd also be nice if we stopped running establishment hacks and people who have lost prior elections. The GOP nominee for the Senate in NC might be McCrory, who lost his re-election bid for Governor, for example. We need to show strength and embrace winners. No more establishment hacks and no more losers who make excuses.
