Yeah, Jay mentioned it in his interview yesterday. He didn’t travel to Tech.

Well you just keep waiting on Gio to start over Dugus/Crews/Berry and become all SEC

I don't think he's ever claimed to have inside information. These were always his "predictions". With an offense this deep and a pitching staff with so many holes to fill, he was bound to be wrong on a few of these.

I mean, after last season, who would have predicted Money getting the ball on opening day or even being in line to be the Friday night starter?

Nope. @adam4848 had him in the starting pitcher list and not just on the list but at the top of the list.

No, I had him as a potential starter. That's why I listed 5 silly.

You know he already did start right?

Remember when you said he wouldn’t even be on the team?

We remember

Taylor looks like a dude back there too, though,

He does. And I think JJ, pissed (or frustrated) as he was Thursday morning, did mention him as a positive from the Tech game. That would be huge if they could count on him in high leverage, late game situations too, cause I don’t think they were expecting to, considering his youth.

We haven’t been in anything remotely resembling a save situation, but just listening to JJ and Kelly all off-season, I agree that it’s probably not gonna look like a traditional specific setup guy to a specific closer situation. I think they’re gonna want to have those 3 or 4 guys you mentioned with good stuff at the back of the pen that they can bring them in in multiple situations.

I've been keeping up with UCLA since they had a big recruiting class and will be in Houston with LSU and Tennessee. Their freshman pitchers are legit and they have a couple freshman position players getting regular time. They've dropped some games that were a little surprising but their upside is through the roof.

The ACC has some exciting Freshmen as well. The 1B from NC State hit 5 HRs in his first weekend as a college player. Alex Mooney from Duke is also exciting, he passed up a lot of money to go to Duke.

Stanford has an outfielder that is considered at high first rounder.

If roster limits were at 35 he wouldn’t be

But they aren't. So there is no way to know.

I don't think he has inside info. Just fan like all of us and makes that thread every year for baseball conversation leading up to the season for conversation. It is appreciated.

Fontenot will be in the back end. Kelly said Fontenot is a team player and accepted that his role will be back there and not as a starter. With that said, in the 4 games we played we did not have very many situations that Fontenot had to pitch so it isn't surprising that he only has 1 inning so far. After this weekend he will likely have no more than 3-4 innings pitched.

Drost has a back injury from what Jay said in and interview. However, I don't think that has anything to do with his playing time. He has struggled through the fall and spring scrimmages hitting .182 combined with a 36% K rate off the numbers I have compiled. Leading up to the season in the spring scrimmages he was 1-25 with 17K and 2BB for a 61%K rate. That will not get you on the field anywhere. The potential is there so you hope he can figure things out but right now he is definitely in a bad position to get playing time. Also on the season he has 2 AB with both of them being a K.

At the time you posted that, there were no limits and zero people expected it to be 35 for this year. You’re not really helping yourself here; just proving how ignorant you were.

I think when they sort out who can do what, it will be pretty traditional. Especially at the end of the game. They’re going to want to give the ball to the same dude when they can

They may, but I like the fact that we have multiple guys to put in that situation. We saw last season that when Fontenot had to come in 2 days in a row his stuff wasn't nearly as effective on day 2. Having more guys lets you get Fontenot the finish on a Friday and a Sunday game and maybe he can be more effective with that day off in the middle.

Last year he started slowly as well. He was getting shelled early.

I would also like to add LSU hasn't really been in any "close games" unless you want to label the 5th and 6th innings the other night.

We've still yet to see how the back end of the bullpen truly hold a lead.

We haven't even seen Grant Fontenot and Jacob Hasty who both have great stuff. Hellmers and Edwards have combined for only 2 innings.

You cant be this dumb to take this route. You seriously think of the 7-8 outfielders on this roster he is #7 or #8? The guy is playing.

This really never made sense based on what we've seen out of him in his career.

I wouldn't look too much into it so far. I think they have plenty pitchers and not enough innings so far. Starters went further into games which made less pitchers needed. After this weekend, we should see every pitcher I would think.
