Anybody else find it really weird that the guy ringing you up on the handheld device asks how much of a tip would you like to leave? Am I a dick for not leaving one?

I guess you can’t hate the guy for asking but you certainly aren’t a dick for saying no.
McDonalds made over a billion dollar increase in sales by asking if you’d like to super size your meal to large fries and a drink. It works. Sales 101

It's self-serve so the guy doesn't get your food or drinks for you. And you pay with a credit card so he doesn't even make change.

He's basically just there to make sure you pay and don't just steal your food and Cokes.

Why should he get a tip?

The girl who rang me up set it at 0% before I had the chance to try to tip. I’m assuming that’s what they’re told to do

If it gets me a few extra jalapenos on my nachos I'll allow it

Tip culture is dumb.

I'd rather the prices reflect what a business needs to properly compensate their employees.

It's commonplace nowadays and it's stupid.

Literally everywhere asks for a tip these days. It’s alway weird putting no tip when you know they are watching you to see if you tip

I've tipped at the LSU concessions, I assumed it went to the organizations working the booth. I'd like them to benefit from it and keep working.

I do think everyone asks for tips on these credit card machines now, I mean it's probably smart. Easy way to make some extra money.

During football season this year in the south end zone the girl working the self checkout beer station had a tip jar out between the 2 registers. Like a clear jug with a lid with a hole in the top. Had some cash in it, and was decorated with paint pen saying her name's tip jar. Her only job was to remind people to unscrew their caps.

I don’t tip them. Concessions are already expensive enough
