If they have the armored vehicles and artillery ammunition. They are going to get the entire west side of the bank back regardless if they press the attack or just allow the retreat. It will be interesting to see how they play it. They won’t cross the river though. At least not in the near future. That will be a big offensive whenever they choose to do that. I fully expect the Russians to shell the shite out of the city once they have finished their retreat. That’s their playbook. Destroy everything. And they are technically blowing their own city up if you believe their bullshite elections a few weeks back.

I honestly don’t think Ukraine has the men and strength right now to really press an attack in Kherson. They are content to just take it without the losses. There’s 20,000 Russians just on the west side of the river and more on the other. Really if you were going to build up somewhere it should be in the Donbas because that’s where the Kherson soldiers are going to for Russia.

Everything that I'm reading suggests that Russians are not retreating in good order and are instead in full panic, changing into civilian clothes and running whichever way that they can.
The ones in Kherson City are getting four and five people into little motorboats and trying to get across the river. Ukrainian forces are already within tube artillery range of the river and are pounding the crossing areas on both sides.
Near the dam, I don't think that Ukrainian guns are within tube artillery range of the dam, but they are getting close.
It's dark there now, but I can't wait until dawn. I'll stick my neck out and put down a marker: I still think that Ukraine is easily going to destroy/capture over 400 armored vehicles and well over 1000 POWs in the next 2-3 days. I think that's a very conservative number.

And that's why Ukraine needs to keep up the pressure even if they're stretched thin themselves.
So what's next do you guys think? I'm not sure the Ukes have the ability to force a contested river crossing, especially a wide, marshy river like the Dnipro. But maybe the Russian defenses on the east bank aren't as formidable as they seem. Do you think the scene will shift to a different front? So far, Ukraine has been able to mostly avoid fortified positions, choosing to cut off GLOCs instead. So I'm thinking maybe start somewhere around Zap and push southeast to the Azov.
