Bakhmut will fall soon now.
When it does, the next defensive line will be Kramatorsk, and Slavayansk. But that’s it. There isn’t another line or fortifications to fall back on once those cities are captured.
I expect they’ll retreat to Dnipro when they lose Kramatorsk and Slavayansk.
It only takes Russia 2 - 3 months to capture a city and you are expecting them to capture 3 cities. A lot can change in 6 to 9 months.
ETA: Of course, you are dirty, lying, neo-Soviet so you will expect the Russians to be in Kyiv by next week.

ISW update

Key Takeaways
Russia continued its campaign of systematic attacks on residential areas in Ukrainian cities with strikes on Vinnytsia, Kharkiv City, and Mykolaiv City.
Russian forces continued efforts to advance on Siversk but their progress is unclear.
Russian troops conducted limited ground assaults around Bakhmut and Slovyansk but made no gains.
Chechen Leader Ramazan Kadyrov claimed that one of the four new battalions he has been forming deployed to Ukraine.

Russia’s operational pause largely continued, with limited Russian ground assaults along the Slovyansk-Siversk-Bakhmut salient
quote:
The Russian missile strike on Vinnytsia on July 14 was part of a systematic Russian campaign of attacks on residential areas of cities in Ukraine.[1]

I know this wasn't you but remember when the Eastern front was collapsing every day

Orcs
Why do you keep calling them this?
Because Russian camo and gear makes their troops look like Orcs in drone videos posted on the twatter.
This one is Soviet era but the Russian allies in the LPR and DPR forces are still wearing it.
Plus Russian force behave a lot like orcs.

It’s what the Ukrainians have been calling the invaders (after LOTR).
ETA: it’s more the behavior than the look, I think.

You have been given why specifically orcs but it is important to understand it is common to label the enemy inside and outside the military with a pejorative name. Using a name like kraut, asian, or camel fricker develops a feeling in the soldier and public that the enemy is sub-human. In particular, this lubricates the first pull of the trigger against the enemy and prevents an SLA Marshall type report where 50% of your troops never fire their personal weapon. I remember being taught this reasoning during bayonet training* in IOBC.
*somebody is going to call me old because I had bayonet training just like it is still NBC (not CBRN) to me, that's OK I still know how to properly parry and butt stroke a MFer.

I know that’s the exact reason it’s being used. Frankly I think it’s childish and impedes rational and intelligent conversations about the war. No one in here is going to pull the trigger on a Russian soldier. All it does it make it easier to cheer for their deaths.
This thread is literally no different than a game thread on the rant where LSU fans call Bama fans gumps and Bama fans call us corndogs. That’s why this thread sucks so fricking much. It’s a bunch grown arse men cheerleading for whichever team they’ve chosen. It’s honestly pretty pathetic.

That’s why it’s so great to have you here to give reasonable and well thought out responses. LOL

Yeah because war is so fricking rational and intelligent. Give me a fricking break.
Pootin’ doesn’t think the Ukrainians are real people who deserve to live so his troops are responding accordingly, barbarically. Thus the label the Ukrainians have given them, Orcs.

Is this the part where you intentionally pick a bunch of fights, get flamed for it, then use that as evidence that “nobody hear wants to listen to objectivity”?

Everyone in this thread are meanies and just pick on him for no reason.

I think the Ukes are humans and deserve to live and be free. That’s the opposite of your dictator, Pootin’. He deserves all the disrespect that can be piled upon him.

Yeah but you think all Russians are sub human. You’re no different than Putin man. Literally the exact same. Grow up.

Why do you think I’m a Putin supporter when I’m on record many times in this thread as hoping Ukraine wins. It’s clear you are incapable of seeing nuance or making unbiased observations about the war. That’s common for women and teenagers who can’t keep emotion out of anything.

It appears Ukrainian HIMARS strikes have killed or wounded most of the leadership of the Russian 106th Airborne and 20th Motorized Rifle Divisions. Russian sources confirm the deaths of those officers.

Looks like the Ukrainian claims about killing most of Russian VDV's 106th Airborne Division's deputy commanders in a HIMARS strike in Shakhtarsk was accurate. Colonels Sergei Kuzminov and Andrey Vasiliev were both killed on July 9.
