Yep, the feeling you get in your core as you listen to that engine shift through gears as you’re accelerating through turns and screaming into straights can’t be replicated by a gearless electric motor. I’ve driven teslas and they’re fun but there’s no connection to the car no adrenaline rush. Driving a 911 or similar style car you feel entwined with the workings of the car, you’re a team connected. A Tesla you’re just riding along

5 minute recharge vs 15 hour recharge.

Car shows with dudes standing around comparing battery output sounds kind of lame.

I'll take an air cooled carbureted 911 over a water cooled or electric any day.

For me to buy in to electric cars would mean I'd have to buy in to climate change. I'll never own an electric car.

Maximum speed and capabilities aren't what makes driving enjoyable to me. This is the reason the Miata has existed for 32 years.

I thought they still existed because there are still teenage girls who need a starter car.

Is that car really enjoyable to drive?

The Kia EV6 GT is going to really hurt Tesla. Porsche has the Tacan, the best electric car right now.

If that came from an ICE engine, man the gas savings!

A Miata can be heavily modded and they’re beasts on the track.

In one single aspect of performance, sure. But there is more to performance than straight line speed.

I'd rather go slower and row my own gears, feel the vibrations and the glorious sounds as the cars rev.

Much like mechanical watches vs quartz, if you have to ask....

it was a joke. And I’ve driven heavily modded miatas. I wouldn't classify them as “beasts” but it’s a nimble, well balanced car.

I've seen prepped Miatas flat out embarrass guys in the Porsche club on track days.

I don't mind a hybrid any more than a turbo. Same basic goal in a car like a Porsche.

of course....

I'd never own a Miata or Boxster but they are capable cars on a tight track when setup.

This.

As far as the OP:
quote:

Afraid the 911, as we know it, is on borrowed time.

The 911 died in 1998.

It's even hard to find air-cooled motorcycles anymore.

The 911 Hybrid that won LeMans is a beast for those not familiar: V-4 2L plus the electrics, 888 HP, 0-60-2.2 sec, 0-100-3.4 & 0-200-9.8.

Future generations already don’t care about cars and trucks. Hell most kids don’t seem to really care about getting their license to be honest
